He listens carefully to our description of the problem, then takes a look, and then tells us what needs to be done. On more than one occasion, what needs to be done is not what we thought – after all, he’s the professional. He then describes the problems he might run into during the job, and provides an estimate of the possible cost impact. He then does the job, with no fuss, muss, or bother, and when he’s done, makes the work area clean as a whistle. I like to talk to workmen about their tools and craft – Ted has been consistently educational, interesting, and polite about my lack of knowledge. If you run out of plumbing topics, be sure to ask Ted about his youthful hobby racing stock cars.”
