Mill Creek Park - South End

Address: Boardman, OH 44512, USA

Park

“The best city park I've ever seen for the variety and abundance of opportunities for enjoyment. Peaceful hiking trails, lots of picnic areas, activity areas for water sports, fishing, biking and lawn games. You can see everywhere that this is a thriving ecosystem; in just one short drive today we saw squirrels (black and grey), chipmunks, hawks, herons, ducks and a small herd of deer.”

Stitt Pavilion

Address: Boardman, OH 44512, USA

Park

“Great venue for a party. Has a kitchen with a stove and sink, private bathrooms, and a playground. All was very clean. Set in it's own little meadow so you have great privacy. We had 25 people and felt like we used just under half of the available seating space. It's nice you get it for the whole day so set up/tear down aren't rushed. Adequate and close/accessible parking. For us it was a perfect setting for a kids birthday party during Covid that allowed for the needed amenities while affording open air and plenty of spacing. Covid or not, this will be our go to for future outdoor parties.”

Hitchcock Woods

Address: 8264-8266 Hitchcock Rd, Boardman, OH 44512, USA

Park

“Was very muddy. 1.3 miles of trails.”

Poland Municipal Forest

Address: College Lane, Poland, OH 44514, USA

Park

“Nice, easy to walk gravel trail, seemingly the most used, and possibly the main trail, through wooded landscape next to a creek. Creek must be VERY polluted, however, as there were signs warning of the water and absolutely zero signs of aquatic life in the water nor on the creek bed that I could see during my visit here.”

Newport Wetlands

Address: W Newport Dr, Youngstown, OH 44511, USA

Park

“Massive park has many features from gardens to bridges and lakes full of fish and turtles. You can rent kayaks and pedal boats and fish or enjoy photography or bike riding or jogging and walking. This park extends for miles and is well maintained and consistently patrolled. It has the distinguishment of being the largest urban park in the USA..bigger than Central Park in New York. It was utilized for mining coal and other minerals and the river was a power source for a number of mills that built this areas economy and development. It can take quite a while to explore it all since various adjacent areas are in the parks jurisdiction. There are no food places in the park except for at the golf course. There is also a working mill to visit with a beautiful covered bridge and waterfall. A unique treasure to visit..”

Mill Creek Preserve

Address: 2819 W Western Reserve Rd, Canfield, OH 44406, USA

Park

“Nice escape from everyday life. Not much shade. Wear boots after any rain. Look out for ruts. Enjoy the nature.”
