Love this trail! We biked the full 66 miles from Liberty Center to Montpelier. ~25 miles are paved, the rest is gravel (rocks, grass, mud) so a mountain or gravel bike is a must if you want to do the whole thing. Love the scenery and change of terrain. The stretch from Wauseon to Montpelier was a bit of a challenge! 💪
Enjoyed the first 2 miles from montpelier to county rd 15 in williams county plan to do more but this was our first foray into the trail outside oak openings
Arthur D. Robison was Chief Clerk for the Montpelier Div of Wabash RR during the 1940s-1950s. His desk was in the Montpelier Yard Office that was located at the end of S East Ave where it meets the Wabash tracks. He also was an amateur photographer. When there was a train accident in his area, he photographed the scene. The old B&W photos posted here were certainly taken under those unfortunate conditions. My hope is that people who walk the Trail enjoy the "Then" images as they experience the "Now".
We love walking the trail! We've managed to cover about 15 miles of it so far... We pick up where we stopped each time. We love seeing how the terrain changes each mile and seeing what we can find along the way! Highly recommend geocaching along the way!
