I LOVED this museum! Tom Mix memorabilia throughout, as well as a short movie about him in the old west. Full of saddles, guns, hats, boots, whips, pictures, even a full size statue of Tom with Tony, his horse, near the entrance! There is also a picture of the Cord automobile he died in. It was highly enjoyable, and I will be going back!
His name may not be as widely known these days, but when in Dewey, it's still worth a stop to see a time before movies had sound and the western heroes were true cowboys.
What a fabulous museum! We are so happy we made the trip. The young lady that was working (sorry, I didn’t get her name) was so friendly and full of knowledge. What a marvelous collection. Dewey should be proud to have such a gem of a place! Admission is by donation. We gave $10 each.
Had a really nice time at the museum today. 4 children ages 5 to 13 had a fun time. All watched the movie while we looked at the gift shop. No complaints and happy kids.
The Tom Mix museum is a great little museum that has a lot of Tom Mix's original gear and outfits. Also a good selection Tom Mix promotional items, and circus and movie memorabilia. Had a great conversation with Fawn, who was working there. She is passionate anout the collection and can give you a lot of background. Check out the orientation video if you have time. Support this museum so it can continue to operate!
