The heart of the hoyt is a beautiful place. Worth the walk.
Truly one of the most enchanting parks I've ever visited. The redwoods are stunning and inspire a feeling of awe. You will be amongst the giants.
Great walking trails for a beautiful Oregon day! We are blessed!
The deck sits on a steep slope: the back of the deck against the slope with the front a good 15 feet off of the ground. Because of how the deck is situated, you feel more like a bird among the goliath redwoods surrounding the deck, rather than a bunny on the ground. Yes, the Japanese Gardens are a peaceful place for reflecting, as are the banks of the Columbia. But sitting on the benches at the Observation Deck with streams of light shining through the dark forest makes for a special spot to get away in Portland. Then, walking through the other paths of the Hoyt Arboretum makes for a pleasant afternoon.
An almost mystical atmosphere surrounds this place. Within the redwoods, all sound is drowned off as one stares incessantly at these wondrous miracles of nature.
Saturday March 16th the team at Evolution Construction came in to build the redwood observation deck for the Clifford School Frog Pond. What an amazing effort and outcome!
