“One of my favorite go too places to get in a quick hike. There's some nice views. The Scenic Vista at the top is probably my favorite. There's also a mansion at the top that you can take a look at, and a very nice garden filled with local plants and flowers. The sunsets at the rear of the mansion are stellar.”

“Best campground in the area. Nader is a saint”

“Nice place to climb if you don't want to hike at all. You pretty much park right at the rocks. Mostly bouldering. One top rope wall. Dirt road to get there...no low to the ground sports cars. Climb on!”

“This is a great campground! It's convenient to many tourist areas in PA, yet it's off the beaten path so it's quiet and secluded. Many sites are up against a little stream and the sites are spacious. Sites do seem to be muddy near the water, but that's going to depend on recent weather. Fun activities, and recreational items are away from most sites so you don't hear kids yelling all day and night. Camp store is well stocked and the staff are friendly. We already made reservations for next season.”

“Go there for the Open Air Market....visit the vendors who are there and this last one, they had dancers and that was enjoyable to watch. Always interesting to find out what vendors will be there from event to event.”

“If you enjoy watching trains this small park is for you. Small pavilion built right beside the Norfolk Southern rail. Fenced for safety so you don't have to worry about children straying to close to the track.”

“Great time had, kids really enjoyed themselves. Everyone on the sand was courteous and pleasant. The grounds were clean and the sand was smooth. Great location to wade in the water, relax and read a book, go kayaking, or fishing. Looking forward to returning soon.”

“My 11y old went for first time & really liked it. Her bff did not, but camps not for everyone. Almost all of their cabin left before/after patches so they couldnt do skit they'd practiced so we ended up leaving before campfire. I wonder if they shift a half hour earlier if more kids would stay longer that friday nite? One other minus - there was a sand volleyball court but no ball all week! The Carlisle YMCA couldnt manage extra volleyballs?!? That didnt make any sense.”

“A truly wonderful trail. Go in the cooler months to minimize the risk of snakes and get a less obstructed view. Long way to the overlook- from the trail head go right over the stream along the Appalachian trail (white blaze) and turn onto the blue blazes - should be a sign. It is definitely easier and less steep but will take a few hours. Short way- stay left at the trail head and follow sign and blue blazes. It is very short and very steep. Will take about 30 min.”

“Great trails and comfortable beach area by the lake. Pole Steeple can be a little bit of an incline but the views are beautiful. You can also bring your dog which is a bonus.”

“Very easy to deal with. Booked online and when you get there you don't have to check in, just go straight to your campsite. My only bugaboo about this place is that you are essentially camping with everyone else as well. Every site is basically on top of the other... typical state park though I guess.”

“This is a great place wether you are nobo or sobo, this means whatever it took to get here you only have to do it 1 more time and you completed your through hike. It was neat to be here.”

“Tiny shelter but a great covered pavilion and hammock haven.”

“Narrow roads in and out of the campground. The sites are gravel, reasonably level, and private. I had virtually no Verizon cell service. Nonetheless, I think it's a terrific campground. It's about 35 minutes from Gettysburg, and that made it worth the trip alone. The general store has GREAT burgers and it's fun to see the AT hikers on their way through. I ate a gallon of ice cream in their honor, albeit over a five day period and not in one sitting. I never visited the two lakes, but my neighbors raved about both. The campground host is very nice and very helpful. Firewood is $5. One last note: The Thirsty Farmer Brew Works is worth the 25 minute drive from the campground (if you are a beer nerd).”

“Plenty of wide open space up at the top of the mountain. It's a very short walk from the pull-off from the gravel road, but it's far enough that you definitely can't see the road from the site.”

“My new favorite campsite in this state forest. Lots of trees spaced just right to hang hammocks.”
Address: Centerville Rd, Gardners, PA 17324, USA
“The parking area here has space for about 6 cars depending on how tight they park. The trailhead is well defined as you follow the light blue blazes along the way. The trail starts with a small stream crossing and lots of butterflies when we were here. Very flat at the beginning but gets rocky and steep as you ascend the ridge when some lovely vistas open up. The titular blueberry plants dot the trail here and there, but as always, don't go eating any wild berries unless you really know what you are doing. There are a few areas where the trail isn't as defined and the path could use a few more trail makings, but as long as you stay aware getting lost shouldn't really be a problem. Came across one rattlesnake keeping warm in the rocks at the top and just kept our distance.”

“Nice out and back trail but nothing really noteworthy. ”

“Great shelter along the AT with ample room for tenting and hammocks. The privy is relatively new and clean. When we stayed here, there were easily 20 hikers who spent the night.”

“Beautiful, can't wait to go back!”
Address: Ridge Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257, USA
“Open canopy due to stunted growth forest limits shade. Generally narrow, fairly rocky, and downhill heading out. Coming back is uphill but with few rocks and a wide path. The trail has a couple interesting spots marked by stations that are explained on the downloadable trail map.”
