Museum

“Arrived at a strange hour and wasn't sure if anyone was around so I first walked the ground and shot some great outside pics. Then proceeded to the carriage house museum where I was greeted by Mackenzie. She was enthusiastic and I enjoyed the focused narrative she gave me on 1777 since that is where my own work has been focused the past couple years. A VERY informative museum I could have spent more time looking at exhibit cases and all that is presented. Such a great museum!”

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

“Excellent family museum. Rare and interesting specimens (both skeleton and taxidermy). The presentation of these is very nice. The butterfly room is awesome for all ages. It's like a miniature version of Butterfly World (an indoor museum down in Florida), with live animals flying around as you walk through. For kids there are some interactive exhibits and some small animals to observe. The "big dig" (a fossil excavation exercise) is particularly great for young ones.”

American Swedish Historical Museum

Address: 1900 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145, USA

Museum Library

“This museum is just a short walk away from the Sports Complex and is housed in FDR Park, an expansive city park outfitted with a lake and all. The building is beautiful inside and out. The museum is divided into several themed rooms that each showcase an achievement of Swedish Americans. I especially liked the Golden Map room and the New Sweden gallery. There are also rooms dedicated to noteworthy Swedes that influenced aspects of American life. The museum is less about Sweden and more about Swedes in America. It is clean, the architecture is beautiful, and it’s surprisingly modern! Check it out of you have a few hours to spare! It’s small in a way, but it still took me over two and a half hours. But then again, I wasn’t in a rush.”

The Franklin Institute

“Our family loved it here! One five year old and one 16 month old. We were blown away by he variety of amazing interactive exhibits. The train room and machine room were big hits. The brain exhibit was very cool, too. As was Newton's loft. The food was pretty good in the cafe, which was a nice surprise. We will definitely be back!”

Glen Foerd On the Delaware

Address: 5001 Grant Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114, USA

Museum Park

“This place is only minutes away from where I grew up. I always knew it existed, but not until recently did I go. I can’t understate how beautiful this space is. It’s essentially a park with several neat things to see and an excellent view of the Delaware. The mansion itself is gorgeous. The interior really surprised me: it’s both extravagant and homely. I enjoyed learning about the history of the estate and I appreciated the art exhibits as well. I went as a casual museum-goer, but I understand they do weddings and other events too. I highly recommend if you want to enjoy an awesome little green space with an incredible view and a wonderful little museum.”
