No tickets to buy, just pull up, get out and look. Very cool history.
Unfortunately the Museum was closed so we checked the train only, its in great condition.
Excellent small-town museum that exhibits the history of Allen. I especially liked their exhibit "Allen - Then and Now," which looked at photos of downtown Allen and the blocks around the museum and compared it to what the area looks like today. It was a great way to see how Allen has transformed through the decades from a small town centered around the railroad to a thriving city in the DFW metroplex. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I feel the locomotive and caboose on display outside the museum could use some descriptive signs around them. They are nice to look at and walk around, but I didn't seen any plaques stating what they were, where they came from, or what their connection to Allen is. Otherwise, this was an excellent museum with very nice staff.
Totally cool place to check out.
We visited this center today while Allen heritage day was celebrated. The center has history facts of Allen which are interesting, especially the info about the Sam Bass railroad. Would be great of videos are added in the center. Train robbery reenactment was done by Allen high school drama club and this play was fun to watch.
