“Troy is an amazing and inspiring teacher for my middle school son. I highly recommend him. His individual attention, patience, and consistency helped my son grow musically and more confidently when performing and in sight reading. Troy helped my son get ready for his school’s band performance at Carnegie Hall NYC in March 2018 and recently the UIL band competition. My son was transitioning from Beginner band directly to Symphonic band. Through consistent lessons, positive feedback, encouragement, and practice, Troy was able to decrease my son’s stage fright and get him comfortable playing and sight reading on the advanced Symphonic level. Troy made sure my son had a strong drum foundation and sight reading while working with mallet pieces on the bells and vibraphone for Carnegie Hall and UIL. Troy’s easy going teaching style is a great fit working with my introverted analytical son. Troy is both hardworking and disciplined. He is very positive and gentle in feedback. He has extensive knowledge of teaching percussion and music. I am impressed with his advocacy for ear protection and ergonomics for percussionists. As a parent, I enjoy attending the lessons and seeing my son continue to progress with Troy. He is very good at refocusing my son when my son would get frustrated. Troy got my son back on track to learn and master the techniques customized to my son. He is very approachable and flexible when we had scheduling issues.”
