Sam Houston National Forest - Stubblefield Trailhead

Address: Unnamed Road, Montgomery, TX 77356, USA

Park

“The OHV trails at the National Forest are outstanding. They will accommodate ATVs and dirt bikes. Absolutely nothing wider than 50" will fit down the trails, and no carts or small UTVs can make it through the trails. OTVs must have a registration sticker, and riders must pay a cash fee daily. The routes are challenging, but manageable for everyone as long as you take it easy. Experienced riders can pick up the pace, but watch for tight, blind turns, deep ruts, and trees close enough to potentially do real damage.”

Boat Launch

Address: Shadow Lake Dr, Montgomery, TX 77356, USA

Park

“Nice and well maintained free launch with docks. It's a no wake cove but on busy weekends the water can still get a bit choppy which can make it tough to trailer your boat. Also, people tend to swim and fish around the docks so you have to be very careful to avoid kids and fishing lines in the water. Free is free though.”

“This is the first place we have been to with our new camper. We went for Memorial Day weekend and we loved it! We have 3 kids and 2 dogs (who are large), and it was very comfortable for everyone. The pool was nice and my girls spent hours swimming. The spaces aren’t to cramped and everyone seemed respectful of each other. It wasn’t over crowded and the staff were really friendly. I just hope they get the store in the felt done soon.”

“The RV Park of Dobbin is about 20 miles west of I-45, on Texas 105, in the tiny town of Dobbin, Texas. Every review that I have read, from on-line research has been very positive. According to Yelp, the park has, about 25 level easy in-and-out sites, with 30- and 50-amp hook-ups. There are several golf courses close to the park and if you have a boat, Lake Conroe is also close by with good bass fishing.”
