“Those in the area will know what gem this place is: this review is for the others. . We visited after a brief visit to a local, who recommended their tacos. There was quite a line for the drive through, but luckily we planned to dine-"in". . Parking out front, we entered via the chain link gate. This place clearly gets busy, as there was seating for multitudes and standing for even more. We walked up to the unprepossessing order window and studied what to have. . I decided on the Brisket taco ("Do you want BBQ sauce" , huh? On a taco?) and a Picaddillo taco, plus unsweet tea. We sat at a picnic table, and the cashier brought us our drinks. A very few minutes later, she brought us tacos. . Yeah, they are superb. The tortillas are awesome, and stuffed with almost too much fillings. We also had a few of they salsas in the bag. . The brisket was truly top-notch, not too lean and tossed in BBQ sauce. I was surprised to see pickles too. This was like a brisket sandwich, but using a tortilla. The picaddillo taco was equally perfect, filled plentifully with delicious meat and [potatoes] (maybe? It was fantastic) . There was nothing about the experience that was at all bad. Really excellent meal. . They do have a drive through. When busy, the locals came in to the window and left a few minutes later. . If I lived anywhere close, I'd definitely be a regular.”

“Parking is a little limited, the staff are nice, and the food is great, my wife and I got two cappachinos to start, then for luch we got the chicken Alfredo and the mushroom Swiss burger with avacado, bacon and a sunny side up egg. This ran us a total of $65 with a $12est tip. Wide open dining room and you are not on top of each other from the table next to you. Overall, this was an excellent place for lunch when not tight on a budget, but also not expensive.”

“Soooo good! The paninis, soup, salad, and daily special (green chile chicken enchiladas) were all delicious. We stayed there visiting for a bit looking through all the old Calallen school yearbooks and my daughter ended up ordering a lemon bar. You could tell that lemon bar was homemade, it was the perfect balance of flavors… buttery, tart, and sweet. We went back in line to get another one to go for hubby. We’ll be back for sure, service was great, food was great, we might just go back tomorrow! 😆”

“As a newcomer to Corpus Christi, we quickly found out we had a lot of work to do with regard to homeowner's insurance. Never before did we have to deal with separate homeowner's and wind/hail coverage. We were blown away (in a bad way) with premium quotes from our (former) go-to companies, such as GEICO and USAA. In fact, those companies weren't particularly knowledgeable in wind and hail coverage...they simply farmed it out to other companies and provided no real explanations. I tried a few local companies, and while they were certainly knowledgeable, the premiums were still a tad too much. After perusing the internet, we decided to give Ed Cantu a try. His web presence and reviews were certainly top-notch, so why not? When we popped into the office, we were met by Ms. Robin Vega. She is absolutely everything we could ever want in an insurance rep...friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. She took a lot of time explaining our options and custom-built a complete homeowner's package just for us. The best part? The premiums are several hundred less per year than any of the competition. And in an awesome display of integrity, she pointed out how our current auto insurance carrier could not be beat insofar as the premiums (at this time), so we kept our current carrier (for now). During our second visit, we met Ed. He's every bit as friendly as Robin...and even gave us a copy of his book. Very cool. If you're looking for the best coverage, premiums, and service, why would you go elsewhere? Head to 7122 S. Staples...now!”

“We have been going to Double Barr at least a half dozen times a year for the past 5 years. Patsy and her team are always friendly, accommodating and provide information about what’s happening around the island. We only stay at Double Barr when visiting Port Aransas. The cottages are all a little different from each other and have everything you need for a short or long stay. The cottages are very reasonable in price and provide a little home away from home. You are just a short drive from the beach and have your own quiet space. Kitchen is stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. There a fridge, stove and space to cook. The cottages have window unit a/c and a wall heater for the winter. On season and off, Double Barr is a great time. It’s clean, dog friendly, no shared walls, and parking for 2 on property directly in front of your cottage. Patsy and her team are always around to help if you need anything. 10/10 will stay here again and again.”
