Dinosaur Valley State Park

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been here but it never disappoints. We had a wonderful RV site for our trailer with plenty of shade. The Paluxy was low on water but we enjoyed walking in the low parts and looking at the dinosaur tracks. The rocks are slippery so take caution when traversing them. Make sure you get a spot that fits your trailer since some of the spots are small.

This is a beautiful park with an extensive amount of things to do, We spent 4 days here and still didn't get around to seeing/doing everything.
Of course the dinosaur tracks make for the main attraction, and the dinosaurs were especially amazing for my dinosaur-loving toddler.
The Blue Hole was great for swimming, and there was a beach area to set up on.
Swimming at Rock Beach was fun too, and the sandy beach area was perfect for relaxing. The river bed was pretty mucky, though, making it less appealing for swimming.
There are miles of trails for exploring, with varying difficulty levels. A lot of these trails are shaded, too, which is great during the hotter part of the day.
Campsites were roomy and well kept. We stayed at campsite 20, which backed up to trails leading to Rock Beach and river access.
Bathrooms and showers were quite nice.

I CAN NOT recommend this place enough. From the awesome rangers on property who had great personality and great with the children ahead of us to the park itself it was just awesome.

We had clear views of the foot prints when we went (please remember visibility depends on the water they are in). The campsite was serene and quiet, right next to the Paluxy River so there was a wonderful serenade of frogs and flowing stream.

Also the northern campsites you have to hike so be advised. Also-Also, the main foot prints we saw, you had to cross the river. There are big stones. . . .I'm a bit clumsy so I just took my shoes off and crossed with the rocks as a balance. They do have bathrooms, one by the main gate and one in the picnic area. There are also porter-potties interspersed so don't be turned away by some comments about the bathrooms.

Also a lot of those cute little whiptail lizards everywhere
