Very good place to go. A lot of friendly people
Everything is permissible - but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible but not everything is constructive.(1 Corinthians 10, verse 23). This church founded 30 years ago, to be exact, mainly for students of UT Austin campus. From very beginning of this assembly Ray and Clara( called by our Heavenly Father in 2009 due to aneurism) she who was with great love and mercy to each and every member of the congregation and she’s well remembered by the church body. Few years later pastor Ruth Lu join this assembly and work very diligently to serve the church as the apostle of our Lord, which made this church full of Lord‘s blessings and congregation body becomes more and more spiritually fruitful and fulfilling. There are youth pastor, Jewish Rabbi, senior missionary workers to sermon frequently, therefore, the assembly becomes the home for all Christian’s not just Chinese students but students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and oversea Chinese. Numerous local believers attend to Sunday service because there is an excellent interpreter, jack, for the service, plus pot luck after Sunday service.
The church is spiritually blessed and every event and service are all biblically based and spiritually guided.
Thirty years is long to a human being because one can be fully independent but it’s a very short period in church history but with the guidance of Holy Spirit it will be a light house of our life with righteousness, peacefulness and hope. Love, Faith and Hope are always the guideline of this assembly. These are my words for its thirtieth anniversary.
God bless all of us, our body is His temple.
Amen.
I was very touched recently by the young adults and youths involvement and participation in the Travis Christian Assembly activities: their passion of pursuing God, their sincere dedication, their hearty testimony, their behavior changing, …….,, I felt it is not possible without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit! This change is obvious not only in the younger generation, but also in the older generation in this church, I am happy to see that we focus more on the words of God, to do more in a real Christian way, to align more with the Holy Spirit!
I was born again in a non-denominational American Church and stayed in the same church since. I have always loved the preaching, the singing, and the warm family feeling in the church. When life went on, my wife and I were looking for a new church after my son was born; since we would like him to be around a group of friends with same Chinese background; at the same time, our little church didn’t have much resource to manage a good environment for babies and toddlers. After visiting a few local Chinese churches, we came to Travis Christian Assembly (TCA) which was highly recommended by our dear American professor friend who had done years of missionary work over China and several nations in Southeast Asia.
Within just a few weeks listening to the sermons from Pastor Ray, I realized TCA was so much different from the only church I had stayed and other churches I had visited. My American church though not denying the work of the Holy Spirit in recent days but rarely taught the subject. The Sermons from Pastor Ray and any other invited speakers who preached always relied heavily on the Bible, the interpretation of the Bible verses or stories was always carefully considered the contexts and relevant verses elsewhere in the Bible; also, with in-depth meaning that will touch one’s heart; in the end, Pastor Ray always guided the congregation with some realistic ways to practice in daily life. On top of this, the new thing for me that drew me in was the teaching of the subject, the Holy Spirit, how to really know the Holy Spirit and accept the work of the Holy Spirit these days in our lives. I got to witness the mighty work of the Holy Spirit on others and experienced it myself in TCA. The preaching and teaching in TCA are focused on both the truth in the Bible and the real work of the Holy Spirit today, there is great balance and harmony in between. TCA is also a church that keeps God’s Kingdom Business as priority. Pastor Ray has led numerous mission trips to China and other countries in dozens of locations in the past decades. Needless to say, I have stayed with TCA ever since the first time I visited there.
