Treviño-Uribe Rancho

What a little jewel this town is, it is as if you are suddenly taken back 100 years. We were hosted by a local artist, so we took a walking tour of the town. The town is situated as such, that a local party was taking place, and our guide walked us into the home where a family was enjoying Mexican Music, foods, and a spectacular view of Mexico at sunset.

Why there are many significant aspects of this town to consider, one of the most important to me was that San Ygnacio was one of the last places to view Spanish-Mexican Vernacular Ranch Architecture. Some of these buildings have been there since 1830, that is 15 years earlier than when the state of Texas became a state of the United States.

Wonderful place to see the history of the area.

Unique historical town, birding, border patrol, mostly a unique town to drove/walk around.

We were lucky enough to get a tour, thr town is trying to figure out how to promote itself as it should, a great gem.

Incredible find near to Laredo. Definitely a remote place to visit. The buildings were under restoration when I visited. Plenty of educational signage to inform you of the building's significance along El Camino Real and the small town's history. You could almost consider this town the Gruene of Laredo (how Gruene is a facinating short drive from New Braunfels). The town of San Ygnacio also features a gorgeous and historic plaza and church. No restaurants or souvenir shops in San Ygnacio however! I found the town a safe place to casually walk about.
