“This review more than Barry's is about Kevin DiMichele. Don't get me wrong, Barry's at Clarendon is really good and I am very happy with my classes and experience there. But Kevin is a wonderful coach/trainer/class lead. I have taken Barry's classes in DC, Clarendon, and LA and he is by far the best trainer I have had. Not only he knows exactly what is coming next and is on top of the routine the whole time, but also he explains everything very clearly, and doesn't assume that everyone knows everything. His routines also have a very good flow. Also, he very well knows when to switch to another movement and change it up. If you have been to Barry's you know that the music is loud, so sometimes when the trainer doesn't speak clearly and loud enough, it is hard to hear them. With Kevin, you don't have that issue at all. He is funny and charming too and he pushes you when needed as well. Overall I really like his classes and I do my best to move things around and take his classes if my schedule allows. He is out of the DC Barry's but I have only taken his classes in Clarendon.”

“What a fun, tight-knit, vibrant community with so many perks!!! I fell in love with NB quickly because: it's in a perfect location, has fun instructors with all different styles and workouts, has free parking(!!), fair prices, non-judgement atmosphere, and small personalized classes. Everyone is welcome and it's so uplifting to see. It's also so easy to try your first class for a super cheap intro price. I'm hooked”

“I love this place to practice my yoga. Maggie is an amazing teacher, she knows show to read student's body, her hands on assistance is spot on, she continuously studies and applies in her class room. Also, people who practice yoga here in Ashtanga Nation, they are devoted practitioners from all walks of life. I feel comfortable to practice here as who I am as I am able to find a deeper connection with myself. It's worth of driving a long distance to come here and I always leave with my body and my heart opened up after my practice here.”

“I travel a lot. A LOT. 180,000 miles just in one year and coming back to South Arlington is like coming home. Doesn't matter if it the first time or the 27th time I run into a fellow athlete or coach here, the vibe is the same. "How can we help make you better." The location is a hidden gem! Metro close and Walk to the Pentagon or Crystal City. Plenty of green space and healthy eating options in the local area. If you are a Govie or military, if you drop in, make sure they know it as they will take good care of you. For many of us, functional fitness is a way of life and the coaches at South Arlington live it- very experienced and they teach, support, and a kick in the butt if you need it. Drop in. Check it out.”

“Sun & Moon Yoga Studio has been a source of great joy throughout the pandemic. When they started Zoom classes two years ago, I wasn't ready for the advanced yoga class taught by my regular instructor Andrea Kiss. I took two sessions with Vicki Christian and mastered the poses. Now I'm loving my classes with Andrea. Sun & Moon offers something for everyone.”

“Ballston Crossfit is simply the best. Not ONLY because of the Gym which is full of equipments, spacious and comfortable. Not ONLY because of the surroundings That makes us feel safe. But especially because of staff and community. Begginning from the owner, Tucker. A very special, kind and lovely person. Since the first contact, he welcomed my wife and I so lovely That really touched our hearts, besides being very professional and respectful. His staff is awsome! Coaches in shape, athletic look That serve as examples for the members to follow up and engage. They are well trainned and really know what to do to get the best from the members and help us to improve our skills. Madson and Monika are AWSOME! the community was another important part of our decision to sign up Ballston. Friendly, outgoing and athletic. Simply what we were looking for. We did feel home after the trial class. The Program Trainning are excellent too, envolving all levels, since the beginner to those who wants to became real athletes of the sport. If I had to sum up my experience with BALLSTON CROSSFIT in a single Word, I'd say it: SENSATIONAL! LUNARA & LEANDRO PESSOA.”

“After becoming a member at CHFP almost a year ago, I have seen significant changes on a personal and career level. I was referred to Cara through a mentor and received my USAW level 1 & 2 soon after joining. Coming to my weekly group session at CHFP is a major highlight of my week and the other members provide a strong sense of community and motivation. Since regularly training the Olympic lifts, I feel the strongest and most mobile I’ve ever been. Being new to Olympic weightlifting, I am satisfied with the amount of progress and understanding I’ve gained. Cara’s skill for coaching transcends weightlifting as she is truly a master at effectively communicating with and getting to know the person in front of her. As the fitness director of my company, I can’t recommend Cara and CHFP enough if you’re looking to safely learn how to Olympic lift and enhance yourself on a multitude of levels!”

“Tammy Robinson is an excellent physical therapist. Her focus is totally on her client, directly supervising exercises in the office as well as recommending proper exercises for the home. It is rare to have a physical therapist with me the whole session. Exceptionally skilled, she uses various modalities well, including dry needling. She also integrates useful strengthening exercises at the end to complete the session.”

“Even though I live in Western NY currently, I travel back to the Northern Virginia area on a regular basis to visit family and friends, and when I do, I always stop at the gym to keep up with my workout and running routine. The studio and training space are all top of the line, it's what every fitness center/gym should aspire to be. The owners and staff (including former Olympians!) are all highly knowledgeable, friendly, personable, courteous, and willing and able to answer any and all of your questions, and formulate a personalized training and exercise routine to help you perform to the best of your abilities. The best part that I haven't even mentioned yet is the recovery room, complete with compression sleeves (these are worth the price of a membership alone!), ice bath, sauna, and other equipment to assist in your training and recovery. And as someone who's recently introduced yoga into his running and exercise routine (thanks to my four year old daughter!), I really appreciate and make use of the yoga and stretching area. Overall, Formula Running Center is an amazing and welcome addition to the Northern Virginia area, and any past, present, or aspiring runner should be sure to pay a visit and check out everything it has to offer!”

“A great CrossFit affiliate. Awesome programming, great coaches, and lively membership. In 2019, I dropped in regularly for 6 months. They have tons of elite cross fitters in their membership. The 5:30 and 6:30 am classes are well attended, which was a really nice change from my home gym. The coaches ensured I felt welcomed, remembered me when I came back, and (most importantly) helped me improve my technique. Their programming is AWESOME. Within a week, workouts rotate well among different areas of focus and skills. The lifting programming builds over each 12-week period so athletes can make consistent gains. The notes on the workout in their app are really informative and can help you make the most of the workouts. In 8 years of CF, their programming has been the best I've experienced. The best CF programming I've used If I lived in Northern Virginia, I would definitely join this gym. For a membership (even a punchcard), they require either their foundations course or a brief test-in. While this can be annoying, it ensures that novices build the proper skills and techniques without slowing down the classes.”

“I have lived in the area my entire life but for some reason I never actually went to this golds before. I wish I had gone years ago because this place is great. The employees had great attitudes and overall just seemed like awesome people which really made for a good atmosphere. As far as the facilities themselves, the gym had everything I needed and then some. I would highly recommend this gym! Also, I had no problem parking either, that in itself is a win in my book!”

“The Smith gym at Henderson Hall is an excellent facility with respect to the workout equipment provided. It has one of the best weight rooms in all of the military gyms in the area. The only real downside to the gym is that the air conditioning / air handling system appears to be undersized for the facility, particularly in the locker room areas. Is also not balanced well so some rooms are comfortable While others are too warm. The addition of auxiliary air conditioning to the treadmill / stationary bike room has been of help for that particular space.”

“Sonja at Fit Evolution is simply amazing. I've been working with her since January and my body has transformed. She makes a point to listen to what my goals are fitness wise and designs workouts that are challenging without using bulky weights. Each workout is different and keeps my body guessing. Sonja is also really great at developing challenging workouts that take into account my physical limitations - having chronic knee problems - it is difficult for me to do certain types of exercises and work certain muscle groups. Sonja incorporates such a range of exercises I am able to work on toning muscles that previous trainers just ignored. Working out with Sonja has made me excited about fitness again and motivated me to recommit myself to a healthy lifestyle. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! ”

“One of the best yoga studios in Arlington. Yoga classes are heated and intense. Schedule wise, there is a nice balance of classes. The teachers learn your name quickly and you'll progress rapidly if you make it a habit. The workshops are also great. If you're trying aerial, don't forget a sleeved shirt!”

“I finally caved and bought my first lulu clothes last week at the recommendation of my gym buddies. So far I'm very happy with the pants! I love the waistbands and the 7/8 pants are perfect for short people. The store clerk was extremely helpful in explaining the different types of fabric and how they perform for different activities. She also explained the washing instructions to make sure my pants last. So far I'm happy with the store and their products!”

“Great selection for workout equipment! Extremely friendly workers, especially the man who is incredibly savvy with getting me to say yes to every 5k that is coming up. Lol. Will continue to visit this gym, especially when my shoulder is healed and I can kick my husbands butt at racquet ball.”
