Such a gem of a church, worth the drive from Richmond city! So lucky I found this place when I moved from PA in 2018. Amazing pastors and amazing worship. Talented people and a caring community!! I immediately felt at home and loved the campus, the people and their message. I was able to attend multiple Young Professional activities and bible studies. In 2019, I got the courage to become a middle school student leader and wow - the student ministry at HOPE is stellar. The middle school students staff is out of this world, and care deeply about each child and leader!! I’m so sad to have moved back to PA and leave this church, but their online services are great - especially around the holidays! So even though I’m a few hundreds miles away, I can still be back at HOPE! 100% recommend for young professionals and student ministry.
HOPE Church has been a place for me to learn about loving God and loving others. It has been an oasis as we've settled into life in Richmond and is our 'family' in Virginia. We're very thankful for HOPE!
I’ve been attending Hope for 6+ years now. To be honest, I was skeptical at first that it was some mega church that attracted people because it was new and current. I didn’t talk to anyone or try to get involved at first. I wanted to be anonymous to see if I was even interested in being there. After a year of showing up on Sundays...I gave a good while, I decided that I wanted to be known and felt the need for community. So, I went to a small group bible study. Everyone was nice and I enjoyed the study but didn’t quite find friends there so I decided to serve on a team and later tried another bible study where I made some of my best friends.
Church for me is a place to learn about God’s plan for us and the world around us. I have gained a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and how he wants me to live. I find Hope gives me the soul nourishment I need, actually I crave! It’s a place I love to worship. The worship team is very talented. The pastors teach biblical principals through sermon series that are applicable no matter your age or stage of life. I have come to really love Hope and am proud to call it my church home. I attend Midtown because it’s closer to where I live and find it to be a sweet spot. If you’re one that’s skeptical or had a bad experience, I’d say try again and take a step forward to get involved when you’re ready. I’m glad I did!
We LOVE this church. After visiting churches for the last year, we finally found HOPE. It is such a friendly and loving environment. It is large enough to remain anonymous if you are shy and more reserved but also energized and inviting if you are looking for groups to join and ongoing fellowship.
We encounter nothing but smiles, love, and peace when we go there. Also our son is in the nursery every week- safety is of the highest standard and the care he receives is wonderful.
Tom, Kevin and Jess, I am so sorry to hear your experiences with the church and I would like to apologize on behalf of our church. I have been a member of Hope church for 12-13 years and I am the leader of the prayer team as well as a new deacon in the church. Both David and Pete constantly preach that we are the church and we are not a social club here to just meet our friends each week. I can assure you that the majority of people at Hope church are loving, caring, thoughtful people that want to include others and want to get to know new people. We were all new at one point and everyone had to find a way to get connected somehow. There are many, many ways to get connected by serving and that is how many, many people have made very deep meaningful friendships. My husband served on the set up team when the church was at Godwin HS and setting up the church and tearing it down each week for seven years brought people together in community and for a common purpose. The friendships we made with the people we served with are some of our closest friends. The same for the people on our prayer team. We consider ourselves a small group and we care for each other, socialize together and pray and care for others together. We happily welcome all new members and we would love more people to join our team. I can only tell you that if you poll the majority of people in the church you will hear their stories of how this church has transformed their lives and they would be lost without the fellowship and the teaching that goes on in this church. I pray that God will bless you three with a church where you feel connected and I pray that all the new people that come will be blessed by what God is doing in the church.
