“Amazing beach. It's not very busy because you have to walk a little less than half a mile from parking on the street to get there. Natural looking beach, not touristy looking. Seaweed and other sea life washes up and stays there until the tide takes it back out.”

“I really enjoyed walking here. So beautiful. In the lot you park at there is also a bathroom. and throughout the trails are trashcans and places to sit down and rest or eat at picnic tables. Very enjoyable. The trails are mainly gravel or impacted sand or dirt.”

“I love this park. Great place for parties with your fur family and friends. This park offers a good amount of seating and gazebos for shelter. A water hole with a hose, a plastic dog pool. I do wish they had a real dog pool though. Make sure to bring towels if your dog likes to get wet. We have even seen sightings of blad eagles above the park. A family of 5. It was amazing.”

“I really enjoyed this small little park. completely free and lots of trashcans, benches to picnic and a good REAL bathroom not a portapotty. plenty of places to play for children like the playgrounds. I liked looking at the garden portion the most but the animals and forest trail was nice too.”

“My favorite beach park. I love roller skating on the boardwalk while my babies have beach fun. A little hood at times, just mind your business and enjoy your family. Soccer, football and water gun. The people have a great time at this beach. Police are on patrol and they close the beach at sunset. (Your pets must have on emotional support vest or tag to be on the beach.)”

“The casement has so much history which you can see and feel. Every time I have visited Ft. Monroe, I have experienced dolphin sightings; even this weekend. The open space is relaxing. The fishing piers and the smell of fish is something you have to accept because people seem to be very lucky. ENJOY!!”

“This is an amazing place filled with American history, especially the Civil War era. I love that the information available about the fort area also includes African American history and history of women at the site. I've lived in this area most of my life and never knew what a significant role Ft. Monroe played in our nation's past until I went there are learned from a park official. Be prepared to be sad - a lot of the historical buildings are in decline for lack of funding. :( I've heard that a huge celebration is planned in 2019, with lots of great programs focused on Ft. Monroe's background from many perspectives. The area also includes beaches, including Paradise Ocean Club and a great brewery. Truly a hidden gem for history buffs!”
