“Came home one night to find a big black snake in the middle of my basement floor. I called 5 plus different 24 hour pest control companies before I called Antex Pro all of which said they could be out in a couple of days. What good is that gonna do me I need help now. Antex Pro took my call was at my home in an hour found the snake safely got it out of my home found where it came in from and sealed the entry hole. I know who to call next time.”

“Fun little park near a cabin we stayed in recently. One of the few parks we could find in the area that wasn't blocked off due to COVID, and a favorite. Perfect size for a little one, with swings, slides, a sandpit, and monkey bars. Plus the fire engine. 😊 The pavilion was empty the two times we visited, as were the fields and playground. The park has a small paved area to walk, and appears to be somewhat accessible for those with wheelchairs or strollers. Also some nice trailheads, but watch for ticks. Was a little bit in disrepair in a few areas (there's a set of wooden stairs near a trailhead that appears to be falling apart and the fire engine was missing one steering wheel), but was still nice. There are several seating areas. Has public restrooms. Weirdly, the women's restroom was locked but the men's wasn't when we visited. 🤷♀️”

“Absolutely my fav park! I love this park. I have been watching a family of 5 bald eagles… mom, dad, adult baby, adolescent baby and newer baby. Have been able to get some good pictures here and have seen a number of great natural sights including a juvenile eagle snatch a rabbit from a red tailed hawk… a blue crayfish… it’s quite with good but relatively short trails. There is a good raised dock for fishing or just sitting on the benches in the sun. There’s a floating dock which just added some rentable kayaks with a QR code. The floating dock has a very easy kayak and canoe entry. Usually when I go I run into very few people, which I so appreciate and allows me to sit listening to the nature. I have heard some concerns about poison ivy, so I did post a photo of what poison ivy looks like. There is definitely poison ivy. It is a forest with dense undergrowth, although the paths are clear.”

“My absolute favorite place to ride. Main trails have been groomed for easier riding, secondary trails can provide a bit of a challenge. Not really suited for full width buggies but trail buggies should do fine. Perfect for fourwheelers though. It’s as close to Hatfield McCoy trails as you’ll get, it’s REAL riding not some gravel roads. Staff is super friendly, can spend all day riding and really not touch the same trail twice. Hill climbs are awesome, steep descends, and all deep mud has ride around trails if you don’t want to get muddy. What else do you want?”

“Nice open flat land with cut grass. It is really great to go running, play with your pup/ pet (of course while being careful and considering others). My children loved to be able to run without having to worry about running into others. They is also a ball field right across. The parking area is graveled and separates the ball field from the flat open grass area. In between there is a path where you can enter to go to the boardwalk near by. The best part is that the path is marked by signs. Word of the wise though, carry some repellent for the mosquitoes.”

“There's a few ways to access the park, but the most obvious is the rest stop on 17, which brings you right to part of the canal and ranger station. You can do a few public classes at the facility right over the bridge, like tree identification and such. There is small gift shop and interperative center. The park itself has some really interesting history and is a great place for beautiful nature photography, especially with the iconic dark, tannin stained water that gives that mirror reflection. Yes, there's bugs.”

“Our family calls this the "Beach". My 3 year old loves it! We don't camp there but the beauty of it makes us want to! The water is surprisingly clear and it's such a pleasant experience. Never over crowded. They even have a picnic area and grills to cook.”

“This is absolutely one of the best places in Newport News. It has a wonderful wooded trail (Noland Trail) that circles around Mariners Lake. The trail is about 5 miles long, so it's a good workout if you want to go the distance. Many people run or walk it. Great for dog- walking, not for biking though. There are spots to rest along the way including small piers complete with seating, offering dazzling views of the lake. The museum itself is full of all kinds of wonderful artifacts from maritime history. They also feature special exhibitions and events. Please check their page for current info. Adjacent to the area and part of the museum grounds is Lions Bridge. This bridge, which separates the Lake from the River, is guarded by magnificent sculpted Lions on either side, and from this vantage, you can get amazing views of the James River, as well as Mariners Lake and Kettle Pond. This is favorite spot for locals to watch the sunset. For birders this is an excellent space to view many waterfowl in the area. Ducks, Geese, Heron, Osprey, Eagles, Kingfisher, and a variety of Gulls, Terns, and other birds love to fish the river and nest nearby. Additionally, you will be able to enjoy other Sculpture in the area. Once you visit, you will understand why it's such a wonderful spot. Go! Enjoy!”

“I was staying in Arlington with a group of HS students and teachers. I wanted to run to the Potomac from where we were staying so I mapped out a route and was led to and through the Potomac Regional Park and am I so glad I checked it out! What a gorgeous and fun nature park! I ran through twists and turns and ended up down at the Potomac. I loved every minute of it!”

“Had a great family camp vacation experience! We swam all day in the pools and our kids enjoyed the water slides the most. It felt very nostalgic with an arcade, fishing docs and cabin on the lake. Our kids had a blast at the park. I mostly enjoyed the convenience of the campground layout, everything walkable distance. The only two things slightly disappointing were that some of the amenities were weekend only and no more snack shack. Otherwise, everyone was kind and accommodating. We even got our family photos taken water front just down from our cabin.”

“I am so very impressed with the town of Stuart to have developed and maintain this park. It is a real gem. It's in a little valley on the edge of town and is one of the prettiest parks I've seen this side of the Mississippi. Here you can enjoy the peaceful beauty of the outdoors. The trails are paved and they wind throughout the entire area. There are plenty of picnic tables, many of which are within gazebos. There's a good playground for the kids, a creek meandering through the park, a small memorial park, swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court, baseball field and so much more. They occasionally have small concerts on the grass, too. This is a 5 star recreation area.”

“This is the sort of bike path you find in The Netherlands and Belgium. Great pavement, signage, places to sit, air pumps every 10 or so miles apart. About 50 miles long, there are restaurants around the midpoint, and a visitors center at Charles City Courthouse where you can refill water bottles Cul's Courthouse Grille has water outside too. I can't say enough good things about it and suggest you donate to support them!”

“What an absolutely amazing place to catch a break. The people here are beyond friendly and I can see why my partner said it was the best place in the world. The bathrooms are wonderfully kept and equipped, the grounds are immaculate, and the dusk and dark are quiet and polite. I'll be looking forward to our next visit!”

“As a first time visitor to Norfolk, I had to see the beaches. I am gulf girly myself, but this was just the most serene place I’ve ever been. I sat here for three hours. It was just so peaceful. Worth the stop! It does get pretty crowded after lunch time, but from 10-12 I was pretty much alone.”

“Coming from a mother with multiple children, this is a great ballpark. I have two boys who play baseball and a younger daughter that needs to be occupied during games. Unfortunately, that sometimes distracts my attention from the action on the field. With a playground located conveniently between the two fields, younger siblings can safely enjoy the grounds while you enjoy the game.”
