Top Parks in Chesterfield county, Virginia, United states

Haveridge Park

Address: 9406 Brading Ln, Midlothian, VA 23112, USA

Park

“Just a small park with a gazebo. Better than no park. Does what it needs to do.”

John J. Radcliffe Appomattox River Conservation Area

Address: 21501 Chesdin Rd, Petersburg, VA 23803, USA

Park

“Nice out of the way park. I really enjoyed the scenery, the dam, rocks, and wildlife. The trail is very nice, just remember this is Virginia and summertime, so bug repellent is a must. Fair number of folks out, hiking, fishing, walking dogs. There are picnic tables at the trailhead and a couple more just after the 1 mile mark. The only downside I could really comment on is the lack of a restroom. Very enjoyable trip.”

Clarendon Park

Address: 2418-2428 Brookforest Rd, Midlothian, VA 23112, USA

Park

“Cute little playground. There are no parking spaces, you have to hug the road. Looks like it's well taken care of, the benches and picnic tables all have a new wood there is a barbecue stand. There is a trail that goes off from the playgrounds. Not sure if it's official, there were no Trail markers”

Rockwood Park

Address: 3401 Courthouse Rd, Richmond, VA 23236, USA

Park

“This is Chesterfield's all encompassing park, offering a wide variety of activities that cannot be found elsewhere in the county. Most of the amenities in the park are well maintained, though the park as a whole is a little bit outdated. The Nature Center is worth checking out if you're lucky enough to be there when it's open, and the trails are well marked, suitable, and more prevalent than most systems in the county. Unfortunately, the pond on the far side of the park suffers from overfertilization and lacks very many good viewpoints along the adjacent trail.”

Dutch Gap Conservation Area

Address: 341 Henricus Park Rd, Chester, VA 23836, USA

Park

“Wife and I decided to try the complete walk around the area. I walked and wife on her mobility scooter. Great time and a lot of birds to photograph. Until the last section the nice path ended and we were sent down a narrow path Housetail Loop Natural trail with steps it was terrible with trying to get her cart through this area. Just a warning for anyone with disabilities it is not a great trip. We made it through but very unsafe.”

Highlands Playground

Address: 8401 Eastfair Dr, Chesterfield, VA 23838, USA

“we love our playground but they need to have restrooms. I think it's ridiculous tooth have a restroom ESPECIALLY when my kids have to go bc it's inconvenient and we end up having to leave 😒”

Robious Landing Park

Address: 3800 James River Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113, USA

Park

“Robious Landing Park is a hidden gym located along the James River. When you arrive you immediately see the river accompanied by picnic tables and outdoor grills. There’s boat landing for kayaks or a small John boat. The best part of the park is it’s trails through the woods along the James. These trails are shaded the whole way and have entry points spread throughout the paths. I challenge you to find the role swing! I recently took my family (all 6 of us) to this park just to get away for a bit and the kids loved it. This park is also pet friendly and welcomes all ages of life. Come and enjoy the peaceful river especially close to sunset.”

Address: 6600 Whitepine Rd, Richmond, VA 23237, USA

Not much grass, but lots of trees and space to run. Water pump on site, a bit of a walk from parking. There are ball fields, tennis courts, and a few playgrounds as well. All in all a very nice park.”

“This park and campground are immaculate and the staff is friendly and helpful. We liked the sites because they were spaced out with natural vegetation and trees providing a sense of privacy around each site. The fire pits were clean upon arrival and we noticed the staff actually sweeps out the landing pad area before each guest arrives. A real sense of hospitality welcomed us to this campground. We loved watching the birds each day - especially the pea hens making their rounds of inspection each morning! We'll be back!”

Richmond National Battlefield Park – Drewry’s Bluff / Fort Darli

Address: Fort Darling Rd, Richmond, VA 23237, USA

Park

“The place was what you would expect any park to be like. It was quiet, clean, and enjoyable. We did see a snake and there were a ton of mosquitos, so you should probably bring some bug repellent. Not many people visit this place, so it is a perfect place to have a walk during this time.”

BENSLEY PARK

Address: 2900 Drewrys Bluff Rd, Richmond, VA 23237, USA

Park Veterinary care

“This park will always hold a special place in my heart. I visited many times with my grandparents as a child. I rode around on my bike several times along the paths. My grandpa would show me all the wild blackberry bushes every summer and teach me at what stage they were ripe. Always good to visit. The play area might have changed over the years but its such a nostalgic feeling just walking around the park.”
