Our family calls this the "Beach". My 3 year old loves it! We don't camp there but the beauty of it makes us want to! The water is surprisingly clear and it's such a pleasant experience. Never over crowded. They even have a picnic area and grills to cook.
Nice quiet campground, but our "pull-through" site nearly defied gravity. There was barely enough flat space for our 23 foot trailer plus truck.
This campground is very nice & clean, but not the best for big rigs. We had reserved site #34 in loop C (closest to the water), but there was no way to get in it. There was probably a 45° incline before the site leveled off & a tree in the way of backing in; our travel trailer dug into the gravel. This site is probably only good for tents & van campers. Site #33 is up hill as well, but not as steep of a hill; trucks usually have to use their 4 wheel drive we were told to back in. Sites#14 & 29 are also impossible to back into for trailers; but ok for tents & vans. Loop B should have a sign that reads,' No trailers, tents only, narrow curvy road'. All the sites on the inside of Loop A (in the woods at the top of the hill) are pull thru, but are up hill then level off & then down hill; best for tents, vans or very small campers. Sites on the outside of Loop A are basically level. Loop A is very tight, but with well maintained sites & bathroom. There are no showers in Loop A bathroom, but have them in Loop B & Loop C. There is a steep switchback curve between Loop B & Loop C that some rigs drag. Hosts & Rangers were very nice & helpful.
Great COE campground. Very clean, well kept, friendly staff. Navigating through campground with larger rigs can be a bit tricky including getting into some of the sites. Taking your time and being patient is worth the stay. Since campground is about 5 miles off the main road you're rewarded with a quiet stay. Beautiful views and easy access for boaters to launch. Will definitely return again.
FYI, the squirrels are very friendly and will approach you for food. You may want to bring treats for them.
What a gorgeous campground! We stayed on Loop C where there was a lake view from anywhere you looked. So beautiful. Many reviews talk about roads leading in. We have a pick up truck with pop up camper and had no problems. The staff is friendly and the common areas (bathrooms, beach area and picnic shelter) were spotless. Nearly every site was occupied and reservations are a must. We have already booked time in July and October. This place is a jewel!
