Tuggle's Gap Roadside Inn

“Excellent place stay along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Room was clean and fresh (so fresh that my fifteen year old son even noticed and said something like, “this room isn’t just clean, it’s so fresh!”) beds were comfy, shower water hot through two back-to-back showers and good water pressure! Very cozy wood smell when you first walk in the room, due to the renovation. So quiet at night - We did not hear A PEEP from outside of our room all night. Owner was super nice and communicative. The windows all could open and there was just a lovely fresh breeze from outside… the windows in the back of the rooms look out on nothing but a nice patch of green grass and then trees. When we arrived it was dark but we were pleasantly surprised when we came out in the morning to see a pretty country view with more mountains in the distance. The air conditioner was nice and cold but also very quiet. Breakfast was very good in a cute little country store setting. I remember scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, fresh fruit, coffee, hot cocoa, several types of tea, and regular bread, cinnamon raisin bread and English muffins available to toast, but I’m sure there were more things I don’t remember. As for downsides the ONLY things I would change are 1. I’d put a dark curtain over the back window too - there were good blackout curtains in the front but only blinds on the back window by the sink, so light was still able to get in in the morning. 2. There was no fridge - my mistake, I should have checked but I didn’t think to. For the price I would think there would be a small fridge in the room so travelers can keep their cooler stuff cold and refreeze their ice packs overnight. Fortunately our cooler was absolutely crammed with stuff and about a thousand ice packs though so we were fine. All in all a sweet little mountain inn and I would choose to stay here again if I got the chance!”

Meadows of Dan River Walk Cabins

Address: 4444 Jeb Stuart Hwy, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120, USA

“We really enjoyed staying there. The cabin had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a family meal. The trees on the large property were beautiful. They even had a lavender farm and shop where you could buy soaps and other things made with lavender. There were also trails you could hike beside the Dan River. Great place to go during warm weather as it tends to be much cooler up there on the mountain. We’ll be back.”

Catfish ATV Trails & Pond

Address: 480 Lewis Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112, USA

Park Campground Lodging

“My absolute favorite place to ride. Main trails have been groomed for easier riding, secondary trails can provide a bit of a challenge. Not really suited for full width buggies but trail buggies should do fine. Perfect for fourwheelers though. It’s as close to Hatfield McCoy trails as you’ll get, it’s REAL riding not some gravel roads. Staff is super friendly, can spend all day riding and really not touch the same trail twice. Hill climbs are awesome, steep descends, and all deep mud has ride around trails if you don’t want to get muddy. What else do you want?”

“First I want to say that the general manager, Ms. Keria was very pleasant and broke down the rooms to me. I reserved a traditional room and that looked horrible...not good Intown Suites....false advertising....then she showed me a upgraded room which had been renovated. I was pleased. So shout out to Keria. Intown suites you really need to stop with the false advertising on the website 😑”

Virginia River Cottages

“This is a great place for a relaxing weekend or week at the river. We started visiting about 3 years ago. We have friends' who live nearby and have a yearly get together. My husband and daughter fish off the pier and we love the peacocks that reside there and the sunsets. Suzanne makes sure you are well taken care of and are welcome to the area with recommendations of places to eat and things to do. Because of the above reasons we have started visiting more than once a year. During the latest visit in early December, my husband caught a large striper and my daughter and I visited Haven Beach.”

ATKINSON LODGE

Address: 777 Atkinson Rd, Danville, VA 24540, USA

“A beautiful property that has an event venue as well as accomodations to stay on the property via a lodge and cabin. The property is well-kept and maintained. The main location, the barn, is spacious and can accommodate a wedding ceremony indoors or outdoors. There is a large outdoor area overlooking a small lake. The porch has plenty of space. There's separate areas for cocktail hour and then the main event. The main ballroom can be closed off via barn doors and can accommodate probably up to 200 people. They have catering staff as well. The staff overall are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended.”

Camp Cardinal RV Resort

Address: 3149 Campground Rd, Hayes, VA 23072, USA

Campground Rv park Lodging Park

“Had a great family camp vacation experience! We swam all day in the pools and our kids enjoyed the water slides the most. It felt very nostalgic with an arcade, fishing docs and cabin on the lake. Our kids had a blast at the park. I mostly enjoyed the convenience of the campground layout, everything walkable distance. The only two things slightly disappointing were that some of the amenities were weekend only and no more snack shack. Otherwise, everyone was kind and accommodating. We even got our family photos taken water front just down from our cabin.”

Tsuga on the Ridge

“I have had the pleasure of staying at Tsuga on the Ridge this past fall and had an amazing time. The house is so well outfitted and Brian and Clara were super helpful, responsive, and thought of everything we could need. The views were beautiful and we loved the yard and grounds. The history of the house was captivating and truly added to our stay. The location is close to a great winery and cute town with book shops and cafes. I can’t wait for my next trip up to this magical mountain get away. I highly recommend it to all of my friends.”

Lengthy private driveway. Pool table, office/library, theater room, and a large kitchen with butler pantry that houses several wine chillers. There are plenty of shopping options nearby. Must be seen in person to appreciate, and it's very affordable. It was home to our wedding on August 12th, and we've already discussed our next visit back. Simply loved it!”

Schooner Inn

“It's a fun little older hotel to stay at. The pool is amazing and the hot tub was awesome! The hardware was old and the bathroom and beds are a bit rough but overall it is an incredibly great little hotel for the price! If you're on a budget, this hotel will not disappoint and the view of the ocean is just fantastic. Staff were nice too! They let us check in 3 hours early. Really enjoyed the 10-day stay and highly recommend the Schooner for budget-conscious travelers.”

The building is exceptionally clean and spacious, with plenty of safe outdoor space for playing. The pups are always excited to go, and they are calm and happy when they come home. “We stayed at Mikes place for 2 weeks in the spring of 2023. This place is magical to say the least. It is remote enough that all you can hear is the sounds of nature; dark enough that you can see all the stars. The cabin is spacious and comfy with modern up-to-date amenities. Mike was the perfect host steering us to the wonderful sights on the Blue ridge Parkway. I highly recommend this place and Mike's hospitality. We will always stay here when we are in the area.”
