“My wife and I were scheduled to attend the 50th anniversary of friends of ours in Tappahanock, Va and thought this might be a good time to schedule a B & B somewhere in the Northern Neck area. The Flowering Fields B & B availability came to me from calls made on our behalf. We had such a truly enjoyable time. Susan and Wayne were just the perfect hosts. Even though it was 40 minutes away from our 50th anniversary venue, it was MORE than worth the trip! I love good crab cake, but had never had it for breakfast. Susan gave my wife and I options on breakfast--as she does with all guests--and I have GOT to unreservedly recommend the crab cake. I was fantastic. It was the perfect complement to Wayne's marvelous crepes and specialty pancakes and fruit we enjoyed. However, I almost never got to that course because I wanted to ask for another outstanding parfait with which we opened our breakfast! (But my wife held me back! Ha!) I also learned a lot about sailing from Wayne as he and Susan spend a big chunk of their year on their boat (and I'm a land lubber with an interest). The other guests were a delight and in spite of my simply wanting to sit on the porch and watch the deer in the fields with Sunny & Midi, the Inn's two public relations Irish setters, there were lots of other things that kept our attention in the surrounding area. Oh, it's a given we're going back. We've even decided on the room were going to request next time!”

“Always a great meal. Have eaten Breakfast, brunch, and dinner here many times. And we are never disappointed. Today I had the duck, with fig and risotto . It was cooked perfectly & so tender that I cut it with my butter knife. The entire staff is always kind and courteous.”

“The proprietors are as good looking as they are welcoming! I failed to give them sufficient notice to prepare one of their signature Northern Neck dishes for lunch so they took me for lunch at the car wash. Sadly, we took their car so mine is still dirty. But the fish of the day and she crab soup were delicious. The fresh beet salad (while not everyone’s cup of tea) was fantastic as was the sweet tea. No true southerner can resist him some sweet tea. If you’re ever in the area, give Keith and Natalie a holler. If they hear ya, you’ll get fed or taken ...”

“Friendly, professional, and gave me a loan as a brand new customer when Bank of Lancaster wouldn't even though I was in good standings and had been a customer with them for over ten years. Union First Market Bank is the Bank for me.”

“My 12 yrs old son has been a camper for several years now to the YMCA / APYC Camp Kekoka. It is the best summer camp for kids that I know of. They also work closely with the kids from the City of Alexandria. The camp director Cassie and her staff are the best in the field. Best Summer Camp for Kids!!!!!!”

“This is a small hotel just on the edge of town, behind a sad Pizza Hut. Do the speed limit or you will blow right through town. The dining room for breakfast is the largest of any Best Western that I have been to. The dining room attendant is a super sweet lady that is a joy to talk with. My husband and I were in an Executive King Room, which apparently means, Room with No Couch. However, the bathroom was very large with an exhaust fan, perfectly clean and white walls and bathtub; it looked like it was just installed last week, and a double flush toilet. It had more fluffy towels than 2 people need. The bed was soft and squeeked a little. The room was very clean. My 2 disappointments were that the key card system/machine was down, so a desk clerk had to let the guests into their room for 2 days. The other unpleasant surprise was that I could not use my military ID to check into my reserved room. We had to give them my husband's driver's license and credit card to be photocopied and put on file in a box within arms length of the front desk. When we checked out they gave the copy back to us, but I definitely didn't like my credit card being available for anyone to rummage through an open box to find. All of the desk clerks were nice except the larger black lady. She wasn't so nice, and she kept staring at me. Made me uncomfortable and made my husband angry. We went there to check out a Best Western that we'd never been to. The town of Kilmarnock was wonderful, kind and small. Because of the copy of my credit card, I will not go back to that hotel.”

“Saturday evening dinner. First time to try the Tavern, after driving by several times. Attentive waitress. Enjoyed stuffed shrimp appetizer, along with some.warm bread. Our table tried 3 different salads, all fresh and very good. All 3 entrees were excellent....shrimp and grits, scallops over a creamy, vegetable sauce, and meat loaf. We look forward to going back.”

“My family loves this place, we've spent a lot of time here this summer just getting away from the rush of everyday shenanigan's. Feeling the cool water and enjoying the fresh air. My son loves the playground and the sand. (He like building sand castles) Belle Isle is the place to go when you just want to get away, clear your mind and just enjoy you.”
