We found this adorable roadside inn by happenstance and were SO glad we did! First off, booking was fast and easy online. They were also very accommodating and provided a self check-in option for us as we were arriving late. The room was cozy and newly renovated, too. The BEST part though was the breakfast and kind hospitality we received the next morning next door at the diner and store. An amazing experience at Tuggle's Gap Roadside Inn, we wish we'd had more time to stay! We'll be back next year for Chantrelle Fest!
I stayed here with my wife on July 9th. The place is a hidden gem. The Motel has been recently renovated. It has a log cabin kind of vibe to it and feels extremely homey. Breakfast was made to order on the card we filled out the night before, and it was amazing. The bed was comfy, and nighttime was quiet and relaxing. Both my wife and I will definitely be staying here again. If you do, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent place stay along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Room was clean and fresh (so fresh that my fifteen year old son even noticed and said something like, “this room isn’t just clean, it’s so fresh!”) beds were comfy, shower water hot through two back-to-back showers and good water pressure! Very cozy wood smell when you first walk in the room, due to the renovation.
So quiet at night - We did not hear A PEEP from outside of our room all night. Owner was super nice and communicative. The windows all could open and there was just a lovely fresh breeze from outside… the windows in the back of the rooms look out on nothing but a nice patch of green grass and then trees. When we arrived it was dark but we were pleasantly surprised when we came out in the morning to see a pretty country view with more mountains in the distance. The air conditioner was nice and cold but also very quiet.
Breakfast was very good in a cute little country store setting. I remember scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, fresh fruit, coffee, hot cocoa, several types of tea, and regular bread, cinnamon raisin bread and English muffins available to toast, but I’m sure there were more things I don’t remember.
As for downsides the ONLY things I would change are
1. I’d put a dark curtain over the back window too - there were good blackout curtains in the front but only blinds on the back window by the sink, so light was still able to get in in the morning.
2. There was no fridge - my mistake, I should have checked but I didn’t think to. For the price I would think there would be a small fridge in the room so travelers can keep their cooler stuff cold and refreeze their ice packs overnight. Fortunately our cooler was absolutely crammed with stuff and about a thousand ice packs though so we were fine.
All in all a sweet little mountain inn and I would choose to stay here again if I got the chance!
Arrived after driving up the blue ridge drive, was checked in quickly and the room was amazing. Clean, comfortable and well accommodated. However, the door to the reception was locked and it appears that staff are usually not there which makes it hard to buy snacks and food from the reception which is a shame as it was well stocked. However, breakfast was very nice and I thoroughly recommend Tuggles Gap.
Great little place right off Blue Ridge Parkway. Rooms have been recently remodeled and are very nice especially for the price. Owner was very accommodating and came out to get us set up at the fire pit even though we showed up way later than expected. Breakfast buffet was good. Real food not continental breakfast like you get in most places.
