“Easy access to the AT. It's a gravel parking lot for about 12 cars, with more space on road shoulders just around the corner in the direction of the southbound trail. Everything is well marked, and it's easy to access just off I66.”

“Very convenient location! Leaving my car here felt safe and secure as there are homes around, and I'm sure they take notice to who comes and goes. The initial incline from the entrance is quite a lot, but once you get to the "top" it's absolutely beautiful! There's even a picnic table at the entrance so you can enjoy a quick meal, and make sure you're good to go.”

“Some early steep inclines with fairly good solitude. Leads to a meadow with not much of a view, but darn do you feel accomplished afterwards. Pass by some small streams with a little bit of "up" leading to the shelter. All in all, quite a lovely hike with some challenges. If you're training for Mount Olympus in Greece, this seems like a pretty great training ground!”

“Good parking spot right off Route 55. The parking can be a little tight during the main hiking season. It is about 3 trail miles north of the Jim and Molly Denton Shelter and about the same south of the Manassas Gap Shelter.”

“Sky Meadows primitive campground is a great calm place to spend the night! It is a short one mile walk from the parking lot to the campground, making it the perfect spot for first time campers and experienced campers alike! The campground has 15 sites which fit up to six people each. There are also three group sites which fit bigger groups. Each site has a gravel tent pad, lantern post, picnic table and bear box for food storage. There are two pit toliets and non-potable water on site as well. There are also occasional campfire programs put on by park staff and volunteers which are always a lot of fun!”

“This is a less explored section of Sky Meadows, but it is just as beautiful as the other sections. There is ample parking for regular cars and horse trailers. There are several picnic tables and grills around the parking lot. A number of the trails on this side can get pretty muddy at points when there is a bit of rain, so be sure to wear good boots. If you are in the area, Sky Meadows is a great place to check out!”

“Nice fields, lots of hills but many open fields, Nice lake in the middle of the place and overall looks pretty good, during the winter I don't know what happened but the Fields get really hard like the dirt freezes or something like that but it's still playable”

“We held a baby shower at the Shoreside pavilion here. It was absolutely beautiful. The pavilion was clean and the trash can was empty when we arrived. The location of the parking lot and bathrooms was very convenient for us, and the bathrooms were also clean and well-stocked.”

“I love running and walking with my boys here. The train car is a nice "prize" to let the boys play on if they are good throughout the run. I hope they finish the extension sometime in the near future. The history of it is pretty fascinating. I wish there were more markers explaining things like what buildings and sidings used to be along the old tracks. You can still see where stuff used to be.”

“Dog and I love that there's a dog park in Old Town, but what genius thought putting that green netting in a dog park was a good idea? The netting is to help the grass (and as such is an unmitigated failure), but after we leave the park I have to spend 15 or 20 minutes removing all that green netting from her legs, tail and undercarriage. -pgs”

“Myself and my dogs really enjoyed our hike. Lots paths/horse trails. Gorgeous. There is a vine growing there that smells like grapes, amazing. Well-marked, shady trails with streams for the dogs to cool off. Close to Old town Warrenton, off Lovers lane which has some gorgeous panorama's!”

“I was here to eat lunch during the gov't shutdown. They had 2 types of starters, about 5 entrees, a snack table, 2 types of desserts, and lots of drinks. I was beyond grateful for their many options of food. Also Airlie scenery makes me feel like I'm in Ireland!”

“One of the best dog parks around! It is rather large, has two enclosures, fresh water and bowls for pups. Lots of shade for hot days and a covered patio in case of rain. Plenty of chairs and benches as well as toys. The dog owners that frequent the place are very polite and always alert. Great place to enjoy with your pup!”

“I've been to Crockett Park many times and I really do love all the amenities that it has. This particular trip was not as fun simply because there's been a lot of flooding and Germantown Lake was really high. Other than that though wonderful.”

“Free range between Fredericksburg and Culpeper. Open during the fall and winter. Check the website. The rifle line has about 6 firing points and has overhead cover and an old style rifle rack on either side. Firing points are enclosed so it feels like you're shooting out of an old western fort. No pistols allowed. 100 yards max distance. There is a clothesline at the 100 yard line to which you can attach target frames or whatever. There may or may not be clothespins. All in all, a decent range. ”
