This was good workout. I did walking sticks to help me to come down. It has be hard on your knees. It was shaded most of the trial path. Coming down can be slippery when the weather is dry. It has small parking lot, may be 8-9 cars will fit.
Limited parking but you can park off the street. Beautiful scenery, you can hike 3-30 miles depends on your ability. It includes elevation. Very safe. Family friendly. There are signs for you not to lose the route but you also can use your google map to find your way.
This is a great uphill hike. A little over 4 miles for the loop and 1,200 ft elev gain. The Whittaker peak doesn’t have a view but it’s very peaceful and has a bench to sit on and a visitors book to sign. Trail is well taken care of.
You can easily add more miles with other trails that connect to this one on Cougar Mountain.
Nice short but challenging hike, easy to make a loop for most of it. Lots of trees and a nice little stream, couple bridges / boardwalk. No real views, but beautiful forest.
took about 50 minutes to do 1.9 miles to the top. Hiked Feb 11
This was my first hike on this trail. The trail is well maintained and has several wooden footbridges, making it very attractive. Walking on it was not easy, as most of the time you go uphill. There are many picturesque places to stop and enjoy nature. Overall, this was a great half day close-to-city hike, and I would definitely go again.
