(September 28, 2022, 2:09 pm)Gravel road and parking lot, but recently redone, no significant potholes. Never had an issue with parking. Tons of well-maintained trails and info posted on the history of the site.
(August 15, 2021, 2:38 am)This trailhead is connected to the larger Cougar Mountain system of trails. There are great ravines, mossy growth, plenty of options for trails. Some trails feature old mining history (clay pit, shafts and entryways) usually not recommended to go in of course. Harvey Manning is atop a tall alpy hill and features a great view point of Lake Sammamish.
(February 25, 2019, 10:23 pm)Wonderful hiking place made in honor of a great mountaineer! If you can get away from the roar of the I-90, it’s a very serene and spiritual place. Highly recommend, though the parking lot is not open in winter or so I found.
(May 1, 2018, 1:15 pm)Hiked here for the first time couple months ago but forgot to review. The trails were muddy then but now they should be clearing up with the constant sun we are getting. Great hike around cougar mountain found geocaches as well on our hike, not much elevation change except one hill but then it flattens out. Beautiful place to take the dog for a walk only meet well behaved dogs and all were friendly! Will be back

Shangri La — Washington Trails Association
Shangri La is appropriately named. This is a gorgeous trail accessible from Harvey Manning (formerly Anti-Aircraft) trailhead on Cougar Mountain. Enjoy wildflowers, as well as the notable "Fantastic Erratic" glacier boulder. On clear days, views of the Olympics and much closer-in Tiger Mountain grace hikers' field of vision.
