“I had a black tie event yesterday night and I made a last minute appt with Roots last weekend. Thankfully, they made time for me and I snagged a 3PM with Silvia (sp?), the owner. She greeted me warmly, the space was immaculate and inviting, and I felt comfortable immediately. I came in not knowing what I wanted - only pics of my dress and knowing I wanted full hair/makeup. Silvia was patient, kind, and hilarious the whole time. The makeup products she used are top of the line, she sterilized everything, and made me laugh. She worked on my hair, along with Rina, and it felt like I had started my party early! Silvia did full glam on the face, which I didn't think I'd like but I LOVED and got so many compliments on my whole look. Don't skimp out on hair/makeup - it'll make you feel like a million bucks and the pictures of the memory are worth it for sure. I think I paid ~250 (for hair, makeup, 100% attention from 2 stylists, some instant tanner for my pale skin) which is comparable to others in the area in price but Roots is the spot, let me tell you. Quality impeccable - I'm writing this review almost 24 hours after makeup application and it's still amazing (see pic!). I could wear it out tonight again if I wanted! My partner took one look at me and literally said "WOW!" Do yourself a favor and make an appt - I bet they get booked quickly and as I understand, they're only open for appt. THANK YOU SILVIA AND RINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ”

“It's a nice little park along the side of the beltline near Old Sauk. Very flat, so not a destination for wintertime sledding. It could use a bathroom. But it has a nice playground and a large field with soccer goals. Also a covered pavilion for picnicking or birthday parties that you can reserve in advance. With little kids it can be fun to explore the plants and wildflowers that grow along the western edge of the park right up against the beltline wall. Plenty of street parking along High Point. Never crowded.”

“Solid fish fry. Fried cod > Baked cod > Fried bluegill. But I will say the bluegill was moist and hot. It was the best bluegill I've had in Madison, but that's from 3 places. Definitely a cod lover here (bluegill is just too fishy to me, anywhere). Oh! And get tater tots! UPDATE: 2021 The fried grouper sandwich was great! Grouper is low in "fish" taste and its texture is more chewy (than cod), kinda like pork. I really love their fried cod, but this grouper is definitely 2nd fiddle. Only fish left to try is the expensive walleye, but it's next.... PS. TATOR TOTS”

“What a great place and I never knew it was right around the corner! One of my kids is highly sensitive. The physical and emotional discomfort she feels is extreme especially when she has to go to the dentist and suffer through something that's uncomfortable for a person without sensitivities. Madison Pediatric Dental is so fantastic! The hygienists and dentists walk through everything they're doing slowly to ensure kids are comfortable before proceeding. This is night and day compared to where she has gone before. Let's be honest.. she still doesn't love going to the dentist, but she's not scared to go anymore.”

I highly recommend him. He also did my root canal 25 years ago and the cap is still in good shape and working well. Amazing dentist, and kind and personable.
