Devil's Lake State Park

Wow. What a gem! I wish we knew about this place sooner so that we could have camped here! There’s lot of trails and they’re not that long or too hard. You could easily do all of the trails in the park in a day or two. Balanced rock is a challenge only because of the rocks and how slippery they are lol. It’s doable though! Devils Door is awesome. The lake looked fun and had lots of stuff you can rent but we didn’t have time to hangout in the lake.

Devil’s Lake is perfect for water activities like kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. The water is clean, and the beaches are well-maintained. On a warm day, it’s an ideal spot to relax or paddle around while taking in the scenery. However, it can get crowded in the summer, so getting there early is key if you want to secure a good spot on the beach.

Fantastic views, but prepare for crowds. We hiked the trail to Balanced Rock, Devils Doorway, and Pothole trail. Wonderful views but a difficult hike for many people. The beach areas were well maintained and the lake of gorgeous. We arrived about noon on a Friday and several parking lots were full. I can't imagine what it would be like on a Saturday. The bathrooms at the beach area were acceptable, but needed cleaning. This park is definitely worth a visit, but I would avoid the weekends.

Devils Lake State Park is amazing! What a wonderful place to spend time. We arrived on Sunday and are leaving on Friday. We've seen s lot of people come and go. There are miles and miles of walking paths and you can swim or kayak or tent a peddle pontoon, and paddle board. There are so many activities in the park and the surrounding area. We hike 6 miles the other day. My sandals and feet didn't really appreciate that. They have an abundant supply of souvenirs at the shops and there is also food, so you don't have to travel out of the park if you don't want to. There's a lot of history here, such as the hotel that was here a hundred years ago. The golf course that was removed apparently to make campsites. If you live fun places, taking cool pictures, enjoying yourself, then this is the place for you!

Camped, hiked, swam. What else do you need?!

Camped in tent site #527. Plenty of privacy. Quiet and potties within a short walk.

Hiked the East Bluff up to Balanced Rock, up to the top of the cliffs to soak up incredible views of the lake, and hiked down the Potholes trail and through the Grotto. It was well marked but pretty steep. Be mindful and bring water on a hot day.

Then, after my hike, I cooled down in the lake. It was clean and clear and just cool enough to be refreshing but definitely not cold. Just perfect!!

I would totally visit again!
