Usually hike Devils Lake area a dozen times or more a year in preparation for climbing in Colorado. Pretty decent ascents up the East and West bluffs with some bouldering should you want to take a more direct route up. Beautiful views of the lake and surrounding area, especially in the fall when the colors are changing. Make sure you get a park pass if you plan on parking at the Iceage trail parking lots on the perimeter of the park because you will get a $50 dollar ticket.
Sweet trails! What a unique and cool park. Some rock stairs can be slick when wet. Recommend this area!
We went there in the end of March and it was very cold but absolutely worth it! This was my first time in this area and I have to say the hike was absolutely amazing! The trails are well-marked and there is plenty of parking space . There is $16 fee to enter the park. Be prepared to bring water and snacks with you, because at this time of the year there is nothing open around it.
The East Bluff path we took was 1.1 miles long which took us up the 500-foot cliff. There are several points along the way that overlook the entire Devils Lake. A hike in June with lush green and blue sky was excellent. Would love to come back in fall when leaves are changing color.
