I got injured towards the end of my marathon training cycle, and couldn’t run a single step. Carrie diagnosed the issue quickly and developed a detailed treatment plan to help get me to the start (and finish) line just a few weeks later. She is also an avid runner, so it felt like getting a PT and a coach all in one. She’s very knowledgeable, experienced, and extremely personable — highly recommend!

It's important to know from the start that I am a physical therapist. I know plenty of therapists, but it was important that MY therapist be better than I am xD ... I had back pain for >10 yrs and had seen other therapists without success - so going in I was skeptical there was hope for me. I'm in my early 40s and have been a highly competitive endurance athlete since high school. I've come in top 1% at the Boston Marathon. Unfortunately, it has been competition that caused my back to bother me. It was important that my therapist understand me from an endurance athlete's perspective. I was not devoted to therapy in my previous experiences I think because I knew that my therapist did not understand that world. Carrie understands endurance athletes. She understands me. As an endurance athlete herself, she GETS it. She gave me exercises that I believed would help, which gave me the confidence to do the work. While my back is not entirely gone, it doesn't inhibit my athletic life as it once did. As a result of working with Carrie, she has helped me evolve into a more effective therapist as well - an unexpected bonus! Thanks for keeping me in the water, on the saddle, and in my running shoes Carrie =D

I began experiencing sharp knee pain early in my running journey, and knew I wanted to find someone with experience both as a PT and a runner to help me work through this frustrating issue and continue exploring this sport. Carrie of Synchrony PT is just this person. She was referred by a friend and though she is located a couple of hours away from me, we easily devised a way to work together (mostly remotely) and I visited her for an initial assessment.

Carrie conducted a very thorough assessment and provided a diagnosis right away, as well as a plan to resolve the issue and get me running again. Throughout this process Carrie was very open and informative, responsive to every question I asked, and encouraging. Equally as important to me, Carrie’s approach is based in science and experiential knowledge- and her expertise of anatomy and physiology (not to mention woman-specific training) was clear and impressive.

My knee pain (and the underlying issue) resolved and I moved into my second goal; training for and completing a half-marathon. Carrie assumed the role of coach and devised workouts (including continued conditioning to keep my IT band issues at bay) daily to ensure I was well prepared for my race. These workouts were specifically tailored to me and always presented a challenge. Carrie provided feedback at regular intervals (especially after an especially long or challenging workout- thanks Carrie!) and additionally we met virtually throughout the entire process.

I completed my half-marathon a couple of weeks ago (yay!) and am so grateful to Carrie for providing the guidance and knowledge to enable me to achieve my goal. As a result of my training with Carrie I’m running faster and longer than ever before, I have more confidence in my athleticism, I have an understanding of how to train for a race and integrate strength and cross-training with running, and I know how to mitigate and resolve IT band issues should they resurface again. Carrie always provided just the right mix of professionalism and relatability; encouragement and realism; challenge and support. As a 41-year-old woman, novice runner, I am so encouraged by my entire adventure with Carrie and so grateful to have had such a valuable experience in what is hopefully a life-long sport for me. I cannot say enough great things about Carrie and Synchrony PT. Thanks Carrie!

Not all PT’s are created equal! With Carrie you get the whole package: knowledgeable, thorough, compassionate, fun AND effective. Before I started working with Carrie I barely arrived at the start line of my marathon & I finished in pain. At my most recent marathon I not only arrived at the start line healthy, but I crossed the finish line pain free. I attribute the difference in the two experiences to Carrie. I worked with her through the training cycle for maintenance therapy. I can’t recommend Carrie enough!

I have been working with Carrie for the past 12 weeks, for 1-on-1 run coaching. I started with Carrie as a beginner runner- having just finished my first 5K, with only a few months of running experience. I found that traditional app-based programs were not custom enough and I wasn’t making as much progress as I had hoped. Enter: Synchrony PT. Carrie is phenomenal! As an experienced runner and a physical therapist, there is NO ONE I would trust more to provide me advice and instruction on running. Carrie first performed a gait assessment, targeting weaknesses and working with me to develop an exercise routine to build strength where I was lacking. She then developed custom plans each week for running and cross training, carefully and methodically building up my speed and endurance. I also struggle with knee pain from previous athletic hobbies. Carrie was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in addressing the pain. By teaching me how to effectively use kinesio-tape, which exercises will help to strengthen the surrounding musculature, and encouraging me to listen to my body and modify my workouts accordingly, I am able to run longer distances than ever, pain free! Since I started working with Carrie, I have shaved my 5k time down by 10 minutes! I find that my overall pace during workouts is improving, and my strength and stamina is better than ever. Performance gains aside, I cannot say enough good things about Carrie, and Synchrony PT. She is an incredibly knowledgeable, friendly coach and a wonderful person to work with!
