“A playground, basketball court, and baseball diamond dominate the east entrance. A field with soft rolling hills and a generous shared walk/bike road opens from the west. Along the southern wall, canopy covers a thin and narrow path with birds, chipmunk, and squirrels. It took me about 8 minutes to cross, stopping here and there.”

“A muddy hike with barriers of water to cross. It is considered a horse trail but a great hike to see wildlife with burst of colors from the flowers that grow. Loaded with deer tracks from the swamps that lie inside the woods. We did full circle of our hike and came out muddy so be prepared!”

“Park is incredibly smaller now due to the construction to make it safer during storms. Construction has been moving along slowly but moving forward nonetheless. Excited to see the end result. Dog park is open very dark at night and needs lights in the dog park and path to the ferry. (Pic below) Baseball field is open Restrooms are open and typically well maintained. Small grass areas are open, and great events are still being held in the park for the community.”

“I’m a student at Vassar College and I go here as often as I can, usually every two weeks or so when the weather’s nice. It’s often muddy and has lots of hills but it’s a gorgeous hike and I’ve seen a lot of cool animals around.”

“Great place to spend the day! Kayaking, snorkel, to a rentals available! The beaches weren't super nice to relax at as they had just been hit by a storm, but the hiking trails and areas around the park are very beautiful with the mangroves. A very natural state park with lots of fun history. Sunken shipwreck to explore in the swimming area which was pretty cool!”

“Great little park and my granddaughter lives it here. They have interesting things that are different from other parks like falling pellets to resemble rain in a turning wheel. She really loves that. She likes to look at all the pellets fall. There is a green oblong thing that turns in circles and swings that are made for the parent to sit with the child and it's secure. Definitely will come back here.”

“Looked like a few areas of the park are crumbling a bit and in need of attention from the city. But there are lots of bright spots, like the observatory and watching the sunset from the highest point.”

“I cannot tell enough great things about this place. It’s magical. It is like the kids’ special place, where they are free and encouraged to be themselves. The kindness and care of Matt and Tinneca is something out of this world and the kids who attend are kind, polite and great friends to my daughter (who had no interest in kids until she started). I wish there were classes for adults (seriously though!) or at least I wish my girl could attend until she’s off to college! To learn and to love nature surrounded by friends and people you trust, that’s the way this place works. It’s a blessing and a gift.”

“Quiet and relaxing campground, next to the lake. Both water and electric worked well. Only word of caution is the gravel road to get to the campground. Lake was low at the time we visited.”

“This is a beautiful park. Has a beach for swimming and a hiking trail, which was quite nice. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because they are still in the process of repairing, but they've come along way in putting this park back together. One of my favorites.”

I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere here, and we have enjoyed talking with all of the people we've spoken to. You can just be yourself. Haven't stayed in a room yet, but we're planning on it! We were newbies and wanted to try it out. Happy we did! Great place n great people!”

“It would depend on what it is you are looking for. The beach area was unfortunately so packed you would barely have room for your family. Fishing around the locks and launch was great. Long area where you can spread out and enjoy the peacefulness of the river.”

“The best city park I've ever seen for the variety and abundance of opportunities for enjoyment. Peaceful hiking trails, lots of picnic areas, activity areas for water sports, fishing, biking and lawn games. You can see everywhere that this is a thriving ecosystem; in just one short drive today we saw squirrels (black and grey), chipmunks, hawks, herons, ducks and a small herd of deer.”

“We really enjoyed our stay! The park is kept clean, is maintained well, has many options for recreation and was easy to book online. Our site had awesome Adirondack furniture to enjoy too! The only 2 things that could have made it better are if our site had more shell and less dirt (with the dew, our RV was pretty dirty) and if the other patrons had picked up after their dogs in the dog run area. I spent my dog walking time picking up after other people's dogs so my dogs didn't step in it or worse. We will definitely be back though!”
