“Came in late on NYE with a small group and had a great dining experience. The service was initially a bit slow. We seated at 815 and last call was supposed to be 845(pushed to 9). It was 825 and the server had not come back to take our order yet so we started prepping to build a large order in case we run in to the cut off time. When our server arrived she was super friendly and let us know that she would take care of us no matter the time restrictions, including alcoholic drinks. She said she would go back and make them herself if need be. The food was delicious!!! We ordered almost good variety of rolls for the table to share and they were all delicious. My favorite would probably be the Newport. Can’t wait to come back.”

“Super Mex is a local Sunset Beach favorite (but I claim it as HuntingtonBeach), and once you visit the location on PCH and Warner, you will know why. It is a Mexican food favorite, with all the classic dishes done to perfection and made with consistency for over 20 years. We stop by just to pick up a large container of salsa and a large bag of their famous round tortilla chips that are served warm! Most of the staff have been there for years. Even with the change in ownership, the food stayed consistent and delicious! Super Mex is one of our favorites!”

“It has been years since I went to Pick Up Stix. Several times I had a craving for Pick Up Stix but something got in the way. I got through with a little job. It was hard work but a nice paycheck. (well, for me) It also happened that I needed to stay in HB until evening because I have to pick up a laptop from a friend to DJ an event at Crunch Fitness tomorrow. (long story) My very first thought was: I have a little extra cash and have to stay in HB: I am going to Pick Up Stix! It is nice to report that it still tastes EXACTLY as it did years ago! My favorite meal here is now kind of a secret. I did not see it on the menu but when I asked, the very attentive staff member told me what it was called. She told me it was the House Chowmein or The House Rice. Depending on your poison, (mine is noodles) this dish includes shrimp, beef and chicken. I also ordered a medium Won Ton Soup abd a large drink. The prices haven't, suprisingly, increased as much as they have at most fast food places. Granted, prices were a little more than most fast food, of course, even before Covid, but the quality of the food balanced out the higher price. I had expected prices to be even higher now but they weren't. Another thing I have noticed is that both the portions and the quality of the food has suffered in most fast food places. The only difference I saw here in the portion was the side crunchy noodles. Not a big deal. Otherwise portions AND qualith were exactly as I remembered them. In addition, the unsweetened ice tea was excellent. (the best is at Panera but portions are small and prices high) Tea is a very big factor for me because I rarely drink sodas. This tea was perfect and refreshing. (not like the horrid tea I had at Burger King which, though a picture was shown of iced tea on the soda dispenser was actually made behind the counter and handed to me with NO ice! It also tasted awful, too bitter) Finally, the place was clean and, as a DJ I appreciated the music mix. It is rare that a place plays a song I do not not know, as well as some of the hits. The mix flowed despite the many genres represented. Good Pandora station or programming. All in all, I was extremely grateful for my delicious and relaxing reunion with Pick Up Stix!”

We don’t go here to sit and dine often, but when we do, there isn’t anything bad and there’s always a table available because I assume most order to-go! “We checked out Mario's after spending the day out and about. Mario's didn't disappoint. Located in a strip mall type complex, Mario's has plenty of parking. The inside has very festive decorations and Mexican music playing. You are greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately receive chips and salsa when you are seated. The chips were very good and the salsa was even better. Not too mild and not too spicy.....the perfect amount of heat. Our waiter was very good. He was attentive and prompt and helped guide us through the massive menu. We ordered chips with cheese and beans for an appetizer. We had wanted queso but they didn't serve that. This appetizer did not disappoint! It was loaded (and I mean loaded) with cheese! The best way I could describe this was it was basically like eating a thin crust cheese sandwich. I ordered the two taco combo for my entree. The carnitas taco is served with pico on the side. The grilled fish taco is served with chipotle mayo on the side. Both are wrapped in tinfoil to keep them warm. They were very good, especially the fish taco. You get a generous portion of fish grilled perfectly. The refried beans were delicious as well. We also ordered a burrito. It was massive and the flavor of the sauce complimented the carne asada nicely. Our daughter ordered the kids cheese enchilada combo. She really liked it. If we're ever in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to return to Mario's.”

“I live around the corner, driven by this place for years. So on a quest to try and support more of my local eateries, I've neglected giving this, among others a shot. I finally decided to try it a couple weeks ago and what excellent food this place has! The food is unbelievably fresh and tastes great. Might even give Las Barcas a run for their money. Certainly for breakfast. Menu is smaller I guess, but is diverse for what you want to try and everything is delicious with it's choice of ingredients. Coffee they make is super good too! A lot to be said about the interior too. I really like the vibe and aesthetic all around. Especially for locals. Looks small outside, but rather spacious inside. Lots of comfortable seating in and on the patio. You can even sit at a working Ms. Pac-Man cocktail cabinet. They do have other To-Go menu items, i.e. muffins as well if you're in a hurry. Though, I've never had to wait much more then a few mins for an order. Lastly, staff has been super friendly and happy to help whenever I've come in. Couldn't ask for better service. Have been back multiple times since introducing it to friends and family, all having highly positive experiences.”
