Wildlife you might see includes ducks, many other birds, squirrels, occasionally mule deer. Good for dogs. Arcade Creek runs thru it so it will occasionally flood the trail and the bridges that cross it. Lot of trees downed in recent windy storms. Lots of Miner’s Lettuce in early Spring! Try some, it’s delicious!”

“This is a beautiful place to go for a walk, get out of your head and enjoy nature. It’s a great place to get down to the river and walk along the shore. I love the sound of the water and there are many types of birds and other wildlife. The main dirt trail is well marked and you can also walk on the paved AMERICAN RIVER TRAIL as well. I felt safe walking here alone. You’ll see a few people here and there fishing, riding bikes, hiking or just enjoying the beautiful surroundings. A great place to go in the spring time in Sacramento!”

Let the kids have a rock throwing contest to see who can throw the furthest in the river! My grandson is almost 4 and he had so much fun! The nature center was open, but it does close at 2PM and remember to bring your masks. After the nature walk we drove to the picnic area ate lunch and the kids broke up in to teams and played football. Recommend you make a day of it and bring lunch and have fun!”

Maddox Park

“Maddox park was great, the only issue I had was one of the homeowners either across from, or backed up to the park called to complain about people working out there in the morning. The sheriff actually had to come out and tell us this because they received a call. I can understand if there is a ton of noise or criminal activity, but people exercising?? Sac Sheriff has other business that they should be attending to, not being bothered by entitled neighbors.”
