It's next to Sheridan Way elementary and the skate park. The bike trail runs right behind it and there is access. There is nice large grass area and a picnic bench. The playgrounds have soft padding underneath. One side has toddler swings and the other side has big kid swings.”

“We stayed a week here and it was not as bad as everyone makes it seem it’s really nice and very clean people are friendly and helpful staff and always doing events for kids and families... yes it’s by the freeway but it’s not bad because we played music and didn’t hear much the only thing that we didn’t like was there was a small restroom and shower there need to be more for the amount of people that are there but other then that it’s a very beautiful place (if your going to the beach exit and go left and follow the bike trail it’s faster and a nicer spot)”

Seaside Wilderness Park

Address: Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“Stunningly beautiful and pristine slice of native California coastal land. Great place to just lose yourself for a few hours (or days, apparently, as I saw a few tents). Sandy beaches, dunes with driftwood and flowering plants, the occasional train coming by, and also a river mouth. Lots of bird life around too. This is just a taste of some of Central and Northern California's wild and wonderful coastline, but it is also easily accessible if you live in the area. I'm not sure of the exact laws here, but I did build a driftwood fire one night and no one bothered me about it...just sublime. To those that complain about the homeless there, I didn't see any real trash, so it must have been cleaned up. I did see a few tents and a few grungy people who kept a very low profile and didn't bother me in the least. I mean, Ventura is a town full of grungy people so it goes with the territory, but they aren't dangerous or rude...at all. I know the area, it is not a concern and again, I saw very little garbage that hadn't just washed up in the tide. There are no beaches in the world that don't have garbage on them these days, even in the South Pacific, by the way.”

Surfers Point dunes

Address: Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“I always enjoy the feeling I get walking and exploring the shore in this area. And there are some expert surfers to watch, and lots of stuff. This is truly about the most laidback place in California (i mean, that still has people of course...lol) ...and the people are very friendly and kind and real too. None of that LA attitude and plasticity here, believe me. You can talk to anyone. Or just do your own thing. If you go just north of where the board surfers go, there is also some excellent body surfing waves, but the water is usually pretty cold. Ventura is a great place to spend the day, and possibly longer, no question about it.”

The Cross

Address: Father Serra Cross, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“Ventura has really taken some effort beautifying the area with new plants and flowers so I hope visitors respect that and keep the area clean. I've visited many many times and I've seen trash and debris quite a few times, especially after functions. The views are amazing, parking is decent and there are plenty of nooks to explore in the surrounding areas.”

Father Serra Cross

Address: 350 Summit Dr, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“The one place in Ventura I miss the most, since I've moved. The most beautiful time of day is at dusk, watching the sun set and the lights come up in the city.”

Ventura Botanical Gardens, Inc

Address: 567 South Poli St, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“Place was awesome before the fire. Well manicured and some of the features (benches, etc) are cool. I still go sometimes on the free days but I'm not sure I'll ever wrap my head and paying to walk in the hills I grew up walking around in. Good views can also be had at arroyo Verde (park outside and walk in) and the cross for free.”

Hike Botanical Gardens

Address: 700, 846 Summit Dr, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“I love smelling the ocean air around every corner. I just wish we could start hiking again.”

Grant Park

Address: 398 Ferro Dr, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“I think it’s a shame that many parts of the park or no longer open the vehicle traffic some roads have remained closed since the fire other areas have been locked up and change that were once great areas to park and enjoy the views maybe have lunch or a picnic but ever since the creation of the botanical gardens which is a beautiful addition to the hillside they have slowly and systematically been limiting access which is unfortunate because of the beauty of the surrounding hilltop open space should be opened up more not less and it said that the same sad pathetic scapegoats of Supposedly “drug use “ and “illegal activities “with little on specifics it seems that they care not about having open recreational space available to all”
