“The children love playing in the water when it comes up from the ground. Yes, it's a water park too. It's free!!”

“This is a fantastic park for novice hikers - if this is your first time hiking, take my advice and don’t tackle the “big one” first! Beautiful red rock, lots of wildlife (we saw plenty of mule deer), and easy enough for the whole family. Highly recommended.”

“This is one my favorite trail heads in Denver for a couple of different reasons: it's always quiet (never more than a small handful of cars in the parking lot), it's a different atmosphere than most Denver hikes (prairie compared to pine trees), and it connects up to Roxborough State Park free of charge (if you're okay with at least an 8-mile round trip hike). The views of the prairie and downtown are spectacular, and the wildflower bloom here in the spring is a sight to see. Come in April or May for the best greenery and weather. It can be windy, so pack a light jacket.”

“No matter how long between visits. This playground never fails to feel like home. Mom would've loved it. Deidra* Meyers* ”

“Fun local playground for the kids. Fun in the winter too! There were a couple of prairie dogs sighted but just be careful and don't make eye contact.”

“This is where the South Platte River comes out of the mountains. Clear water and knarley rock walls. The road, which is closed to cars, used to be part of the rail route to South Park. 6.5 miles of gentle grade, up to Strontia Springs Reservoir, then just a little farther and you hit the Colorado Trail single-track. Half of the time you will see bighorn sheep. Great scenery. When I have out of town visitors I loan them a bike and we go here.”

“Kids visit often with Backcountry frequent summer camps. I went on a star gazing hike. Saw some elk, but not many stars because of clouds. Nice to have "country" access so close to city.”

“Not the best view but you can watch people for their R/C airplanes and there's plenty of shade in the afternoon which is important in the summer!”

“My favorite campground of all. Always so well maintained and bath house very clean. Best sites ever, but very hard to find open sites unless you reserve 6 months in advance.”

“Great park with a perfect party pavilion. Trees are mature to provide great shade when needed.”

“For a dog sitter like me this place is a great way to spend a day outside with my pups. They absolutely love the stream where they can run and jump into the water. I can't wait until it warms up again.”
