“I've been a volunteer at Hinds Feet for over 10 years. I work with the Pen Turning Program. We teach participants how to make a pen out of wood using a mini-lathe. The process helps students learn about many things such as patience, decision making, safety awareness, following instructions, creative expression, problem solving and more! It's also Fun! Hinds Feet is a safe place for kids dealing with serious issues. They offer experiential and adventure based therapy as well as life skills and healthy recreation alternatives- hiking, jewelry making, ceramics, leather craft, drawing, and more. They are faith based, however, services are open to all without judgement or imposing personal values or beliefs. They are starting up a new adventure based program for teens and are looking for volunteers and clients who would like to participate.”

“My brother moved to Lark Springs in mid-July. Although there are no words to adequately describe what a blessing this move has been, I would like to share my thoughts. He was diagnosed with dementia some time ago and could no longer live independently. We (his family and a wonderful team of caring Penrose case workers) spent several months trying to find proper placement for him. When an opening became available, we jumped at it, with little time to investigate or check references. Lark Springs has been the perfect fit for my brother. The staff is kind, caring, compassionate, and obviously well-trained in the special needs of folks with dementia, memory loss, and Alzheimers. The building and grounds are well-maintained, safe, secure, and always spotlessly clean. The outdoor areas are especially beautiful. My brother has been a vegetarian for more than thirty years and the staff willingly provided him with good, nutritious, appealing vegetarian meals. But everything looked and smelled so good, he began eating meat again and is physically healthier than he has been in years. Activities, programs, outings, and entertainment are constantly offered and well-attended by the residents. Although Lark Springs does not accept Medicaid, it is affiliated with (or participates in) the Rocky Mountain PACE program which made it a most affordable option and removed the obligation for us to find medical providers and transportation to and from appointments. After years of worry, we, the family, rest easier now knowing he is safe, secure, comfortable, and happy. Thank you to the Lark Springs Staff and Management!”
