“This is an awesome little campground/trail head on the Rampart Range Motorized Recreation area. It's a bit of a slog up a windy corrugated dirt road, but is well worth it. There are five relatively undeveloped sites in this campground, with fire rings, but no picnic tables. The biggest win for tent campers is that there are restrooms very close by. This area is primarily used by OHV users, so expect some noise and dust. The location is convenient to a number of excellent off road trails, and is also close to the Devil's Head lookout trail.”

Platte River Campground

Address: CO-67, Deckers, CO 80135, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This is a very pretty campsite with great access to the river. The toilets were kept very clean and the camp host was a very sweet woman. Couple only downsides...we were at #4 and it was a little on the small side for our large tent but it was actually a really nice location. Also you have to walk all of your stuff up to the campsite so that’s fun. But besides that it’s a fun little campsite! It is off the road and there are loud cars sometimes. But it is wasn’t terrible.”

“Only shorted them a star because of lack of sewer hook-ups, but their very clear about that in their advertising. The dump station is easily accessible, and the grounds are very well maintained. The park sits off the road and makes for a cute little “hide a way!” The more permanent campers are well kept and some are down right adorable.”

Green Mountain Campground

“Green Mountain campsite located in Pike National Forest outside of Bailey Colorado is a great small Nook campsite area with only six sites five on the left side of the stream one on the right side of the Stream you hear countless birds chirping throughout the day the area is shaded and tends to be very quiet with the occasional deer cutting through grazing during the Sunset hours a great place for a couple or a few friends trying to escape the city Jeff and Diane who are the hosts for this campsite are kind and considerate and each day stop by to make sure you have your needed supplies such as water to extinguish the fires and any information you are asking for great job to our hosts thank you for allowing me to have such a pleasant stay”

“Great place to gather with friends and family. Big enough to invite all your friends and then some. The added benefit was having such a cool camp host. Indian Creek Campground

Address: Sedalia, CO 80135, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“An alternative start to the Colorado Trail, Indian Creek Trailhead is a great hiking spot in proximity to the front range. Be mindful of the fee for the area, its $6 and you pay with cash at a self-pay station. No credit cards accepted. After about 1 mile of easy hiking you encounter trail junctions where you have options. Going straight will take you to Lenny's Rest in about 5 miles, which is the junction with the Colorado Trail. Left will take you to some small campsites and right will give you 3 trail options, one of which leads back to the trailhead and the other 2 offer 5 and 11 mile loops. Overall a great place to get to early in the day without having to get up early and drive. Plus, the trails are long enough that you can spend a whole day hiking. Plus, Fido(s) are welcome on this trail, which is a must if you are planning to meet up with the Colorado Trail. I can't say much about camping there - I never have and don't plan to. There is toilet vaults and water refill stations at the trailhead so there are accommodations for longer stays.”

Rifleman Phillips Campground

Campground Park Lodging

“This is a good place for groups. Its fairly well isolated from other sites and it's a great hike to Dude's Fishing Hole and some good rock climbing. If you follow the rule of "leave it cleaner than you found it" then it really makes it nice for everyone and we've found it in pretty good shape every time. The rangers are cool and the space is great. For large group camping, it's great.”

US Forest Service Work Center

Gross Reservoir

Address: Forest Service Rd 359, Nederland, CO 80466, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Beautiful area! Most of the campsites have great views. Some shaded and some not. During the late Spring-Early Fall the spots fill up quickly on the weekend. The road in is passable in passenger cars if it’s not been washed out with ruts & dry. Definitely ideal for an SUV. Be aware that you can’t swim in the reservoir, only paddle board, canoe, etc. Check to see if there’s a fire ban ahead of time or bring a propane stove as a backup.”

Boulder Adventure Lodge (A-Lodge)

Address: 91 Fourmile Canyon Dr, Boulder, CO 80302, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“What a terrific place to stay!! The nicest people and a great location!!! We were treated so well by the staff and ownership. Why stay at some chain hotel when you can support two local guys trying their best to make a go of it?? Sure, it has its rough edges here and there but, we will definitely stay here again. Awesome coffee was a bonus. Love this place!!”
