I have served as Assistant Church Clerk (10yrs.), Usher (5 yrs.), Breast Cancer Month speaker (4 yrs.). I enjoy our Pastors way of presenting The Word. The atmosphere at Nineteenth Street is of family and love of each other. The children and teens' active participation of my church is phenomenal. Ushers show a feeling if genuine warmth as anyone enters the church and sanctuary. I have heard these comments over the years as church clerk and serving as an usher. As a deaconess at Nineteenth Street, i have many obligations. My most rewarding is serving our shut in and sick members; offering them a work of prayer and the communion sacrement. “Where do I start!! I truly do not like this agency with the exception of a few people. So if you need help from this place, call and ask for Ameal Abdullah she’s awesome! My grandmother uses a DFHV program called Transport DC. She had an issue with the program. So I decided to call on her behalf. (Which I’ve done previously but ended up getting rudely dismissed) The second Ameal picked up the phone she was so pleasent and helpful! She actually LISTENED to what my grandmother’s concern was. Ameal stated that she‘s also a “grandma’s baby” and she often helps her own grandmother. She then complimented me for doing the same with my Maw Maw. After hearing what my grandmother was going through Ameal assured us that a “Mr. Jerry” would be able to help. She put my grandmother at ease with her kind voice and optimism. Even referred my Maw Maw to a senior center that her grandmother participates in. Some people here can be really rude and nasty but this woman is a gem! Thanks to Mr. Jerry also!”
