“Loxahatchee is a fantastic nature preserve. The abundance of wildlife is impressive. This property is owned by the state of Florida, though it is leased long term by the Federal Government. This is where on any day, one can count on spotting wild Gators living in their element. Arthur R. Marshall is a part of the River of Grass or Everglades. The reserve is enjoyed by all. Some places are but short walks. You can drive on the pavement to various parts of the refuge. Trails are both wooden walkways whom even those who are handicapped to the fit, any level will enjoy. The enclosed walkways have signs along the way telling of what you see, and it's history. Then to dirt roads which encircle parts of the park. You can rent or bring a canoe or kayak and boat. The breathtaking beauty is found down every path. I suggest that you stop at the welcome center which is located just past the small entrance building. Upon paying your entrance fee to take an immediate right. Their volunteers will help you with everything from seasonal suggestions and a map. They have a wealth of information and can tell you what visitors are reporting throughout the oasis in the midst of the suburban sea,. If you choose, while just on the edge of the reserve, a dirt road runs along the C-14 canal which is almost a guarantee to seeing gators. I suggest if this is your first visit, bring a camera as you won't be disappointed. Leave everything as you have found it, taken nothing away. Be quiet and listen, look all around. I've seen people on their phones who report nothing, to others pointing the way to a magnificent spot where wildlife has congregated. This describes a recent experience, on the same day and trail. As people as they pass going in the other direction to what they have seen as they are often the best guides. That is unless it's someone jabbering away on the phone or looking down and playing a game, rule them out.”

“Nice but small wood constructed pathway over marsh land. Although a donation is requested upon entering the park , it is guarded and required. Have not tried the nature walks. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 5 1/2”

“I always enjoy walking around this garden center and seeing the diversity and depth of products they have. They have a large selection of plants and flowers, and are very knowledgeable about how to conserve them in the garden. If you need help make sure you ask an employee because they are super helpful. Consistent quality plants. Containers and decor. Not to be missed.”

“This is one of my favorite places to visit. Plenty of wildlife to photograph, It's a step back in time to old Florida. Enjoy Florida nature at its best. Take binoculars and cameras. Bring family and friends for a casual stroll around the preserve. There is plenty of parking. The visitor center is open most days except Sunday for information and a gift shop. Check the information boards to see about events and work shops. If you are a wildlife photographer bring your big lenses its a great place to capture bird and gator shots.”

“Such a beautiful little gem! The hubby, kids and I fell in love with the environment that was clearly designed with great attention to detail. Extra bonus (for us anyway), got to see a raccoon momma and her babies, and a few different herons. Will be back for sure.”

“One of the last protected areas east of I95 in South Florida, the Seacrest Scrub Natural Area is just big enough to transport you back to a time before we were here. There's both a concrete sidewalk path as well as beaten footpaths to follow and explore. Definitely a sanctuary and highly recommended.”

“This park was a really nice find. I was in the area having visited nearby Seacrest Natural Area and I was looking for a place to continue walking and getting exercise. At first I thought it was just athletic fields and they do have a lot of those. There are four basketball courts, three multi purpose fields, eight lighted pickle ball courts, 16 racquetball/ handball courts, four softball fields, four tennis courts, and a roller hockey rink. It's a sports lover paradise. The real gem for me however was the 1.1 mile walking trail in the back of the park. It has 20 exercise stations along it. It runs parallel to the railroad tracks and a bike trail and under the power lines that I could hear humming above me. The trail loops around a lovely three acre lake filled with birds and stocked with fish for fishing. Other park amenities include a picnic pavilion and a playground. I saw several families having a cook out during my visit. The idyllic setting is great for walking, running, biking, or playing any one of the myriad of sports the park offers.”
