“Unique and fun play area. Has larger play gym for the older kids, smaller play gym for the tots a "gravatron", swings that accommodate all ages and needs, a little rocker seat and a zip line now upgraded with a seat instead of a handle (my personal favorite and yes, I did give it a shot), has Astroturf instead of sand or mulch, which is awesome and the entire place is fenced in so that none of the kids can escape, although I highly doubt theyd want to. Only complaint is that it does not have a whole Lotta shades so when the sun gets high in the sky, I’m sure that playground gets really really hot but otherwise really fun spot to be..”

“Used mountain bike to get out here and saw a hog, a turtle shell and a gator skull. Main campsite is very nice. Theres some trees to setup a hammock in the shade, a nice opening to look up at the stars and plenty of burnables thanks to the park rangers cleaning the sites up. Be sure to bring plenty of water and bug spray! Best of all the ranger I talked to was very informative and awefully cute :)”

“As a wildlife photographer, I am always on the lookout for amazing destinations that offer abundant opportunities for capturing breathtaking shots of nature. My recent visit to Myakka River Park in Florida exceeded all my expectations, and I can confidently say that this park is a wildlife photographer's paradise. One of the first things that struck me about Myakka River Park was the sheer abundance of wildlife. From alligators and turtles to a wide variety of bird species, including herons, ospreys, and sandhill cranes, the park's ecosystem is teeming with biodiversity. The park's pristine landscapes, including the Myakka River itself, provide a natural habitat for these animals, making it a perfect place for wildlife observation and photography. The park's well-maintained trails and boardwalks offer excellent vantage points for capturing stunning shots of wildlife in their natural habitats. The Canopy Walkway, a unique feature of the park, takes you high up into the trees, providing a bird's eye view of the surrounding landscapes and an opportunity to capture unique perspectives of the wildlife below. In addition to the wildlife, the park's landscapes are also breathtaking, with vast prairies, marshes, and hammocks offering a picturesque backdrop for photography. The park's scenic beauty changes throughout the day, providing endless opportunities for capturing different lighting conditions and moods. The park's facilities are also noteworthy, with clean restrooms, picnic areas, and a visitor center that provides helpful information about the park's features and wildlife viewing opportunities. The park staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and their passion for wildlife conservation was evident. As a wildlife photographer, Myakka River Park was a dream come true. The park's amazing wildlife, stunning landscapes, and well-maintained facilities made it a perfect destination for capturing mesmerizing shots of nature. Whether you're a professional photographer or just a nature enthusiast with a passion for wildlife and photography, Myakka River Park is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend visiting this park and experiencing its wonders for yourself.”

“Honestly this is one of the most hidden gem spots. You get here at 6-8AM and you'll easily park. This is a few hundred yards from point of rocks which in my opinion is best spot to chill at.”

“South Lido Beach has become my family's favorite beach in the Sarasota area. It's improved drastically from when I was a youth. Lots of white sand, plenty of parking, and a newer restroom tower make it easily accessible. Also, there are a good number of shells that wash up on the beach so it's fun for the kids to go beachcombing while we're there. There are multiple picnic tables and space for gatherings.”

“They have lots of playground and interesting equipment, walking trails, a historical home of one of the prominent community members/family founders of the area, bathrooms. Kids where not cooperating enough to see everything at the park but would def check it out again if in the area. Recommend bugs spray.”

“What an absolute hidden gem. My husband and I chose the Sarasota Garden Club for our intimate wedding this April. We couldn't have been happier. The gardens were in full bloom with birds and butterflies flying all around. Adorable garden statues, fountains, arches and benches line the property, creating countless special and shaded areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. We were married under the gorgeous oak tree on the main lawn, enjoyed cocktails, games and canapés on the patio and rejoiced in the A/C indoors for the dinner and reception. The sprawling Great Room boasts floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors which flow seamlessly outdoors. Kathy was the main contact and she was super helpful and communicative throughout the entire planning process. I highly recommend the Sarasota Garden Club for your wedding, birthday party, or special event.”

“Camping was pretty awesome here! You must walk up the tower and look around! Don't forget to put away trash and lock down your coolers at night, or the huge racoons will get into them! Enjoy!”

“Absolutely huge dog park with more than enough room to run until they're tired. Some shady areas and benches to sit while they play. They also have agility equipment and a training area which I haven't utilized with my little guy yet. He loved it so much I almost had to drag him out. So happy to have this space for him so close to our new home.”

“Only rode about 1 mile on this trail. Not a difficult trail but as stated in the park brochures very hot.”

“Park is up to date but the neighborhood is something another thing. Lots of broken down house and tons of cars on the lawn. Picked up a lot of garbage in the park. Small but would be nice for kids if adults cleaned up after themselves and the houses around were so sketchy.”

“Camped at Big Flats with my family the weekend of April 15th. The campsite is very nice with a fair amount of shade in the spots. The sites are a little small compared to other state parks, but not tiny. They are trying to grow new foliage between the sites and it was pretty clear there was a lot of damage to the trees from Hurricane Ian in 2022. The host, Peter, was friendly and helpful. Other campers were respectful of the quiet time. Bathrooms were dated but very clean. I would stay here again but probably wait until the weather is cooler as it was very hot in the day and there is no water area like a lake or spring to cool off. The Myakka Lake is FILLED with gators so there is no swimming. Incredible sunsets from just down the street over Big Flat Marsh where we saw deer, turkey and gators.”

“The park has a lot of shade trees, picnic tables and covered area which, in my opinion, is underutilized. Newtown Nation sponsors a farmers market every Friday and Saturday and has enlisted Stereo B Productions to provide music. Other vendors are encouraged to promote their business as well.”

“It was absolutely beautiful!! It was my 1st time out kayaking, I went out alone but it was great because I could go at my own pace! I have a huge fear of dark and/or deep water ( like 5'+ ... I know....kinda sad 😂) and this place is perfect because it has both shallow ( training ) water and open to the big bay. I got to know my new kayak and figure out paddling and how to calm when about to panic. The mangrove tunnels are close by to the launch and there are many people around so a solo person doesn't feel that lonely; yet far enough away for some peace and quiet. Bathroom is close by to the launch and parking; and probably my favorite thing there is a hose to wash off your vessel. .....really my favorite favorite part.....seeing kids out way farther than myself (with adults course); it gave me a bit more courage to keep going thinking if they are ok I might be ok too.”

“Amazing place ! I enjoy the sunrise there , there's a lot of people walking or running. Many dogs in the mornings love to see them. The best time to see the ocean water color is around 3 p.m., it looks so pretty! At nights the bridge looks beautiful and the city lights make a great view.”

“Haven’t been here in many years since I was younger. New buildings, everything even nicer than I remember. Took the family for the day when the weather was nice, had a playground in the center in the park and the kiddo loved that. I loved the dioramas of the old circus setups. The grounds are as beautiful as ever and it was a great day to walk the grounds and see the many beautiful types of plants and flowers. As every time I’ve ever been always need more time, just means we will be back soon. There is so much to see, the grounds are worth the trip alone and then the museum for circus items and the art collection. You could easily fill several days or many trips to see it all.”

“This is the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus museum located in Sarasota Florida. It is approximately $25 for entrance fee, there's a restaurant and snack place on site along with a small art gallery gift store located in the main entrance. This is a lot of walking to do as it is located in several different buildings and is a self-guided tour along with outside rose gardens and playground areas along with a connecting path that takes you to the art museum exhibits in additional buildings.”
