Red Top Mountain State Park Visitor Center

Address: 50 Lodge Rd SE, Acworth, GA 30102, USA

Travel agency Park

“Red Top Mountain State Park is beautiful. The cabins are nice. My family from out of town stayed in the cabins. If it wasn't for having to shuttle family back in forth down to the additional parking at the visitor center I would have given 5 stars. Only 2 cars are allowed to park up at the cabins. The options on buying state passes is a daily or yearly. It would be nice if you could purchase a 2/3 day pass when visiting someone at the cabins. Instead of having to stop daily to get one. Other than that it was a great stay for my family!”

There are NO food vendors so eat before or bring fast food/snacks or food & grill to cook on. Arrive at least 1 hour before to park & set up. They use a fog machine to enhance the light show. If that is a bother, arrive closer to start time so you can park farther away from screens/machines at rear. They will direct parking traffic.”

We arrived very close to dark and were thrilled to find out that they close at midnight! The Lift to the top and Gift Shop were certainly closed by the time we arrived, but we were able to navigate a well-lit sidewalk, to get a bit closer to the carving. Really pretty area, very nice folks. Absolutely worth the stop!”

Chattahoochee NRA--Powers Island Unit

Address: 5450 Interstate N Pkwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, USA

Park

“It's a small hike (with all your gear, it can be cumbersome) to the river's edge, but it's all good from there. It's easy to get in because of the concrete stadium steps they have going right into the water. Nice slow float, with a few stops along the way (there's a 20-25 ft cliff that you can jump from at about the halfway point), and it lasted about 2 hours. We did paddle through the small rapids that pop up from time to time, so that may have made it go quicker than others experience. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon in August.”
