“This playground is very fun for kids because it is so unique. As an adult, I had a good time trying out some of the features. That being said, I would highly discourage anyone from bringing a child under the age of four or five. The treehouse-like equipment was very cool, and I loved watching my younger children test their courage, but their smaller legs and shoes got stuck a few times, necessitating a mom-rescue. There’s also a problem with stairs and heights at this park. As a 5’8” woman, I could not reach the top of the final platform, which features a fun twisty slide and a rope wall. This was great for older children, but it was hard as a parent knowing I couldn’t do much to stop my three year old from falling if he got off-balanced at the top. Unfortunately, there aren’t any stairs close to the structure, so the rope ladder is the only way up unless kids hike through the slippery terrain or use the concrete terrace rocks as makeshift steps- both of which have concrete as a landing pad if a kiddo falls. I personally got kind of sick of having to haul my not-quite-two year old up the hill every time she wanted to do the twisty slide since there was nowhere convenient for her to get back up. There are concrete steps on the other side of the playground by the splash pad (which I would kinda worry about getting slick in the summer either the water), but they were kinda steep and not super accessible from where most of the play action was happening. I swear I’m not a helicopter/anxious mom, but this place made me nervous, and I wish I would have known so I could have avoided all the stress. That all being said, it really IS a cool park, and we’ll come back when my kids are ready for it. It had awesome walking trails, tables, a fireplace area, and was very stroller friendly. The small wooded area nearby was so pretty too. I felt very comfortable with the area, and would definitely recommend it to moms of older kids!”

“Celebration Park is a wonderful space for a multitude of reasons. It's a smaller version of Shawnee Mission Park up north. There are fields for soccer and football games, or even events. There are a bunch of baseball fields, some are locked when not in use, but you can find a backstop or two on the southeast corner of the park. They have plenty of parking, very nice public restrooms (with heating), shelters for gatherings or parties (I've been to one and it was great), and a wonderful playground for children of all ages. Perhaps my favorite part is the walking trail. Set in the closest thing to nature that you will find around here, you can stroll around the pond, walk over a bridge (the railings are high enough to not worry), or simply sit on a bench and soak it all in. I recommend going out to sit on a bench in the evening to watch the sun set in the west, over the field where cows graze.”

“Wonderful afternoon activity! Cool animals/reptiles to check out and beautiful paths to walk. Our favorite was the bird watching room though! We loved seeing all the different types at the feeders and using the book to find out what kind they were. 🐦 We even got to see the hawk and owl up close!! Highly recommend for families.”

“Huge park to keep the kids and dogs entertained. There are smaller and larger kids areas with age appropriate slides and climbing equipment. Lots of seating areas in the shade to watch the kids. There is even a clubhouse with restrooms and a few pavilions with grills available for rent. On the other side of the clubhouse there are 8 new pickleball courts. Download the RideKC Bike app and enjoy a ride through the park”

“Grandkids current ages 3 through 8. It was hood to see a newer park planned with multiple ages in mind. I think more trees need to be planted on the western side of the play areas to provide more shade. Or, build a structure to provide shade. The playground structures heat up quickly, rendering them useless on nice sunny days.”

“Fantastic trail with some gorgeous views. Just enough foliage between you and the road to make it feel somewhat isolated. The path is well maintained, mostly forgiving, and fairly long. Make sure to bring water.”

“Nice covered shelter overlooking the small lake. The nearby playground is great for ages maybe 2+. Very rarely busy. The bathroom building is on the other side of the lake but there is a port-a-potty close to the shelter in the parking lot.”

“Very good for kids to play and adults to walk or jog. The only downside during summer is goose poop as walkway is sometimes full of that. If you are okay with that then it's beautiful to visit as you can do fishing as well.”

“This park is a fantastic place for the entire family. Not only is there a two-part playground that is in the style of a ship, but one side is for the smaller children while the other is for the older ones and they are linked by a set of monkey bars! Additionally, there is an ample swing set with a side for small ones as well as for everyone. There is rubber for the flooring beneath the swings and a faux grass beneath the playground. There are multiple pavilions with a grill and trash can located nearby as well as a walking trail that is paved and a few that are not. Nearby, there is a soccer field. Overall, it is truly a fantastic experience every time we go. Do keep in mind that some of the people there are not wearing masks and social distancing is basically non-existent for the children of course.”

“I would also go to this park when I lived up in OP. It is always well maintained and has all the basic necessities you need. Toilets are always clean, and the area around it is well maintained. This is a place for family and friends to hang around and have a BBQ. They are a few walking trials one can take and it has a lake which you can use your kayak.”
