“Fun hike trail in the forest. The trail 1 should take some 1.5 to 2 hours and goes through a moderately thick forest. If you are lucky, you might spot a deer or rabbit or maybe some other animal.”

“Haven't been to the campground since March of 2021. Wow, has things changed. They have really cleaned the place up. Bathrooms are newly remodeled and very clean. They have RV tiny home park models that are cute as can be. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The manager greeted me as if she had known me for years. Gave me more information on the tiny homes they are selling and took me on a tour of the campground. My family and I really enjoyed coming here and highly recommend to anyone.”

“Very Clean. Accessible parking that is very close to the playground. In addition to the playground they have tennis & basketball courts and also frisbee golf. Currently the bathrooms are closed but there is a Porter-John available. There are multiple covered picnic areas. Overall, this is a wonderful park that I visit regularly.”

“Took my granddaughter so we could walk. The bird watching path has a few rather steep hills. Since it had rained a few days before our visit, we opted to skip those and just walk around the small lake twice. Very pleasant, peaceful and quiet.”

“LOVE this park. The visitor center is nice and has a small historical display that educates you on the history of big bone lick. The staff are friendly. You HAVE to see the bison. In the hot summer days the bison like to lay down under the shade of the trees. Catch them in a cooler time of the year and they will roam the open pasture. Pretty cool! The park is well maintained.”

“This is a nice little park and a great place just to stop by and get away from it all. It seems to be relatively unused and perhaps not very well known. Yes there are bigger parks in the area and many of those are better equipped but as I said it's just a really nice place to eat your lunch, catch both your breath, say a quick prayer and then jump back into life! “Absolutely love this park!! Multiple things for kids to do, two separate large playgrounds, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, huge field to run and play and my favorite is the CREEK!!! It's a good stretch and it's wide, majority of it is shallow and flat. There are a few spots that are rocky and a little deeper but the water is pretty clear and surprising isn't filled with litter! Def recommend checking it out!”

“Place has some groomed hiking trails either of gravel, or dirt, and at times there was deep sand. I don't know what the trails are rated but I would give it a moderate to difficult rating for the route we followed. I wouldn't bring a wheel chair to use as it starts with a large, steep, graveled trail going down for what seems forever. And coming back up is exhausting to walk. I also wouldn't recommend taking young children or toddlers. There are several paths off the main trail. I also saw a Roman style theatre seating as we descended the first hill. There were several branches of Gunpowder Creek which wound it's way through the bottoms of the area. Some areas of dry ground were large islands. There were many large, deep areas of water (couldn't see bottom and current was swift), and many very quick moving shallow areas (less than 2 ft deep). Beautiful and scenic, but not a place I'd take someone who didn't swim. On an island across a very large, deep pool of water I could see part of ruins of an old rock wall. I saw four fishermen while there and was told that the Creek was regularly stocked with trout. There is a nice parking area at the top of the park at the entrance. This parking area is next to a playground and the only public bathrooms here, so use them before your venture.”
