“I picked up the green onion and the mild smoked sausage from Brian’s supermarket in Maurepaus La. last week. I wanted to try both but was hesitant about purchasing both without ever trying either. I had both in my hands and walked up to an employee wearing a black shirt ( probably the owner or manager) and asked which one was better. He said both are great. Another guy standing next to him ( probably a distributor ) said he used the green onion the night before in some red beans and he said the sausage was great. The owner/ manager said hey look, get the mild and the pack of green onion was on him. He followed me to the cash register and told the employee don’t charge him for the green onion. I thought he must be the owner or manager !!! I put the green onion on the grill that evening, and let me tell you that was some fine eating. The mild is next on the grill. If it’s anything like the green onion, I’m sure it will be great. Needless to say I’ll be picking up the hot as well I’m the near future. My compliments to Brian’s supermarket as well as the French Settlement Sausage company!!!”

“We decided to try out The Pie because we were wanted pizza. It was great. Didn't get photos of salad or bread sticks, but they were very good. The stuffed mushrooms were excellent also. All toppings on the pizza were fresh (not canned or frozen before). I love the crust because I like it a little thin, but my husband does like it thicker.When I asked for extra sauce to dip my crust and bread stick, it came hot. The service was was excellent. Our waitress kept checking on us to make sure everything was good. Would recommend. They also have other locations in New Orleans.”

“Moved away from the area and during a recent visit craved Jambalaya Shope's meal. Never had the Gumbo before but ordered the Combo 2 with Jambalaya, Gumbo amd rice and 2 sides (white beans and potato salad) and a roll. Ate half and was completely full. Jambalaya was as delicious as I remember but the surprise was the Gumbo. Awesome. May have to go back again before we depart. Pick up service was fast and easy.”

One of the first times having chicken cracklins was here...they set the bar. I have bought live crawfish from Jarreau's—the crawfish are a veryy good size,not small, and the price was reasonable. The service is always friendly and relatively speedy. I recommend.”

It's not only a grocery store, but they also have a small café and serve breakfast and lunch. While traveling on business last month, I made it a habit to come by every day and pick up lunch for me and several co-workers. This place has great salads, Po Boys, and even a daily lunch special. The food is reasonably priced and the two ladies who run the place are super nice and engaging. I highly recommend you stop by to say hello and maybe even buy something.”

“We were passing through the area from Lake Charles, La and stopped in for a quick lunch. Our hostess/waitress was Terry. She was a very sweet, attentive, knowledgeable waitress. She also appeared to be the hostess so she had her hands full multitasking. I can’t say enough good things about her! As for the food, my two older kiddos both ordered grilled chicken Alfredo. The chicken was over cooked but otherwise creamy and tasty. My husband had the fried shrimp platter. It was also good but the shrimp would have been better butterflied. I got a salad with blue cheese dressing. The dressing was very good (homemade). The salad itself was a basic bag salad with added cucumber, tomato and purple onion. I would eat there again but I would skip the salad next time.”
