“Check in was fast, friendly and quick. I had a pull through site with full hook up. The electric, water and sewer hook up line were all new and really easy to connect. The pool is clean and warm. There are play areas for kids and 2 fenced in dog parks. If you bring your golf cart, there's a one way trail that goes all the way around the rv park through woods and corn fields. There is a walking trail. They have a small store at the office and there is laundry on site. Security does rounds on there golf cart. All of the staff and guests are very friendly. I will be back.”

“Having stayed here before, I experienced this Hotel under the old ownership, and it was terrifying. I'd confidently say that almost any negative reviews happened during that time. That being said, the New owners, have made the place enjoyable and much less uptight. With the way the place was run before and the lack of general maintenance, one could only imagine the mountain of work the new owners walked into. Credit is due when credit is due, and I say the new folks are much better and more experienced in how to run a "Functioning" business. And most importantly, are much better at communicating and interacting with their tenants. ---If you came here years ago and was less than impressed, come try it now.. you'll enjoy the improvement..”

“Portage Lake Campground exceeded my expectations in every way! The picturesque setting nestled amidst nature's beauty provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The well-maintained campsites offered ample space and privacy, and the stunning views of Portage Lake were simply breathtaking. The campground facilities were top-notch, with clean restrooms and hot showers that made camping much more comfortable. The friendly and helpful staff added to the overall positive experience, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the abundance of outdoor activities available. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trails, which offered a diverse range of difficulty levels and rewarded us with stunning vistas. Fishing on Portage Lake was a delight, and we even managed to spot some local wildlife during our stay. The sense of tranquility and serenity at Portage Lake Campground was unmatched. Whether sitting by the campfire under a starry night sky or waking up to the soothing sounds of nature, it was an idyllic retreat that rejuvenated our spirits. The only minor downside was the limited availability of electrical hookups, but it was a small trade-off for such a pristine natural environment. Overall, Portage Lake Campground is a gem of a destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I cannot wait to return and create more lasting memories in this picturesque paradise. “I attended a concert at Pine Knob. The Millpond is just a short drive from the venue. Saved me from having to drive home across the state or even having to get on the highway to find a hotel. I stayed in the 1842 Suite. It just looked really nice upon entry. Very comfortable and clean. The kitchen area was well stocked with coffee and a nice variety of tea. Plenty of dishes for guests. Yogurt, breakfast bars, fruit and coffee cake for the morning was nice. Very nice bathroom. Very modern looking. The hot tub was very relaxing. And we loved relaxing on the balcony with our coffee the following morning. Very peaceful! I would recommend this place and I would stay here again, especially the next time I attend a concert.”

“Upon arrival I was greeted by the owner Darlene. She is so friendly and personable. I went to my room and looked at the window and seen the amazing view of a lake! There was plenty of patio furniture and picnic benches. I bought myself a sandwich and sat there and enjoyed the breeze! When I went back to my room there was hot water for a shower and I headed to sleep in a comfortable bed! Thank you Darlene for making me feel at home!”

“Even though I haven't been there in about 6 years I knew both the owners their daughters and son. I lived there for many years when the mom and dad was alive. They were the best people you could ever want to know and they're daughter Jill's husband Brian was my caretaker at Rainbow rehabilitation after I was hit by a drunk driver walking back to the hotel from work. They were easy go work with and they never bothered you about money if owed for a couple of days. I've owed for two weeks when I got sick and they let me pay it off as I could when I had extra money Everyone loved the owners especially Millie the mom. It's the only hotel on Michigan Avenue that I will stay in.”

“Booked the room through Expedia shortly before arrival. Upon arrival we were greeted by Ruth, and we have to admit her exceptional communication skills and service as she offered us more spacious suite at no extra charge (apparently it had extra couch although our family wasn’t so big). The room was on a second floor facing the parking lot at the front, very clean, well furnished, very quiet, with very good clean bathroom and really good air conditioning (considering on that particular day outside it was 36 Celsius and only 18 in the room). No heavy smells anywhere, true non smoking hotel. Breakfast was included, but the one could call it too continental, with no eggs and sausages, it was kinda strange to me to watch big men having fruit loops to start the day))) Apple juice from machine contained probably too much water. But it didn’t affect the overall positive experience, thank you!”

“In early 2022 I was in search of a home and community where I could begin my planning for retirement near my children and grandchildren. When I first viewed Orchards for consideration of buying a home, I was pleased with what I saw and heard about the community. I purchased a home and have not regretted it. The staff has been very nice during my interactions with them. The community grounds and buildings are very well taken care of and it is obvious the crew takes pride in their work. Being a gated community definitely allows the residents to feel safer. Looking forward to many relaxing years.”

“We've booked extended weekends here frequently, though it's a great value for the price and very close to everything, expect to smell lots of pot smoke and cigarette smoke (even though it's a non-smoking hotel??) That is not appealing as I'm sensitive to smoke and have allergies. Most of the staff are great, but I don't know why they only give us 1 set of towels for a 4 day/3 night weekend. We 90% of the time have 1 tiny trash can just in the bathroom which doesn't make sense to me especially when you have the extended stay King Suite. I know that we've spent a lot of $ there and I would think by now they would have some of these minute details ironed out. Rooms are always clean. And if there are any issues they do there best to accommodate you. We will continue to stay there on occasion. I would most likely recommend this hotel.”
