Heron Rookery

I brought my grandsons to see and discover the islands. We had a blast.

Very cool nature setting in the center of the urban Mississippi environment. Blue Herons nest here from early March through April. Multi-level stairs and paths for viewing the two islands from different angles. @ Marshall Terrace Park.

Lots of Herons visible. Nice observation deck and steps down to the river's edge. Fun to listen to the birds.

100+ nesting herons in the spring, very cool

This is viewable from Marshall Terrace Park. You won't be able to see anything after dark. The herons only nest in spring. Nice view of the river though, and you can fish from shore. You might catch catfish or perch or carp. Other kinds of fish are also caught here at times. You might also see a peregrine falcon flying around here.
