“This park is awesome. Lots of room for Frisbee, play catch, or just a casual walk around. Many wonderful events are hosted here, including exercise classes. Great, free summer concerts on Saturday nights during season; which culminated with a fantastic national act....all at no charge, allowing lawn chairs and coolers for the season , with food trucks sometimes, children's face painting etc. Family friendly. Nearby free parking garage...Close to cycling trail, small children's park, ice-cream parlor, shopping at Aksarben Village with many eateries and pubs. Sonny's outdoor bar nearby; plus the Inner-Rail fast food choices and seating indoor and out, with firepits. Sonny's also hosted free salsa classes and dancing...what a fun time! Aksarben Village and Stinson Park; with nearby Farmer's Market on Sundays; best in the city, are a very welcome city gem that showed up to bring music, food, life, and socialization back, on time after lengthy post-covid isolations, mass city construction projects, road work poorly planned and annoying causing generally grumpy post covid attitudes. Good to see people smiling again! Thanks Stinson and Aksarben Village!”

Here, you see people getting into a game of basketball on a pristine court, families strolling by the large pond, watching geese bask in the sun, or searching for their afternoon meal. Kids are everywhere, tossing footballs, while the little ones conquer the huge playground. Even adults are letting loose, revisiting their childhood on the swings. Everywhere you look, there are smiles, laughter, and a symphony of shared memories. Two Rivers State Recreation Area

Address: 27702 F St, Waterloo, NE 68069, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This is a lovely park for camping and the caboose camper cabins they offer are a fun option. My mistake was to come for hiking - the customer service person told me the trails aren’t marked on the map they give out and he didn’t seem to know for sure if there are any or where I could find them. He did tell me to watch out for hunters with bows. The park is fairly small, we didn’t find any actual trails, I would say it is best for family camping since they do offer many different options for that (cabooses, regular cabins, multiple spaces for RVs and tents). There is a small lake with a beach that’s great for swimming, and you can also swim in the river (although the lake is safer). The cabooses should be reserved online first since they are pretty booked up through the summer. Minimum stay is two nights, so they can’t be booked just for an overnight stay. Overall the park is clean, seems safe, and the nature is pretty. We saw lots of different kinds of birds, including a goose nesting right by the camping area.”

Hefflinger Park

“This dog park is so close and really has some great sized, enclosed areas for your puppos to run around. They have it segmented for both large and smaller breeds if you're concerned about that. People have always been friendly, respectful and watch their dogs for any unnecessary behavior. My dog, Yuki, also likes to help clean up the trash as this place is somewhat maintained by the patrons.”

“Very nice park with plenty of walking trails and in a nice location with parking. It also has several smaller “wetland” style ponds with an abundance of wildlife. If you like to watch birds, this is an excellent place to visit, as you will be able to see numerous species of songbirds and also plenty of waterfowl. I am attaching some photos of the birds I saw. I also saw plenty of people just sitting and enjoying the day and others that were exercising. It is definitely worth checking out if you want a little walk outside.”

I was so taken (& frankly almost joyfully overwhelmed) with the fact that there are SO many wonderful things tucked into every corner of available space here. The owner, Michelle, could not have been more gracious! She said she sells for at least 20 different vendors here. I can't believe this has been here for 14 years, & I'm just now finding out about it! I will be their biggest cheerleader from now on! This place is a must-see (again & again)!”
