Fantastic hike yesterday!! Deep enough to go in!
This is a more difficult trail because of the rocks you have to scramble over. Not very steep though. Great views of the city
Gorgeous trail, worth doing! It's only 2.5 or so miles round trip but it took us a little longer than expected - there was some trail finding involved, and a bit of scrambling towards the end that was adventurous with the snow and ice on the trail :) great views at the end.
Moderately challenging short (2.5 mi round trip) trail. Varied terrain w/ 500 ft elevation gain. Beautiful canyon scenery. There's some scrambling & bouldering otrail. Before reaching the top of the trail, you'll reach a high plateau overlooking a small, inviting canyon lake below & also enjoy the beautiful views of the canyon where you came from to reach this vantage point. Continuing on for another 15 min you can reach the end of the trail which is a pretty high vantage point to view Red Rock Canyon valley & Las Vegas in the distance to the east. Behind you is the Calico Tank Canyon & the taller snow-capped mountains. There are plenty of opportunities to capture awesome landscape pics. Lots of places to stop, rest & snack & enjoy the surrounding beauty. If you like a little challenge, scenic views, peace & quiet you will enjoy this short hike. It's a surprising little gem of a trail.
The Red Rock Canyon road is a 13 miles one way loop. The Calico Tanks Trail is a few miles in, and there are many other trails you can do as well (guides to some of the best ones are at the end of this guide). Even if you don't do other hikes, I recommend stopping at some of the scenic overlooks.

Calico hills is a good one for a short walk with some options for climbing. Calico tanks is longer but sooo worth it. Lost Creek is a gorgeous, super short hike with a waterfall at the end.
