“My family and I decided to take a road-trip to NJ this past weekend. One of the stops I found along the way was the Morris Canal and museum. Upon glancing online at the history I thought this would be a great stop and interesting to visit. We weren't disappointed. Jim Sr. gave us a tour and took time sharing information with us, asking us questions and answered any questions we came up with along the way. My son is 8 and my daughter is 11 and both also enjoyed this. While I do think some smaller kids may lose interest (Even as an adult it's sometimes hard to imagine the past)Jim was great with getting my son involved and asking him questions. At the end my son even gave him a big hug. It's a great stop for anyone into the history of the canal, wanting to know about mechanics of the turbines or about the incline planes. Great stop for local families or anyone passing through and curious. Everyone there was friendly and welcoming. Thanks Jim for helping us learn more about the past! :)”

“Fascinating small colonial farmhouse, especially interesting because it depicts the lives of lower-class farmers and laborers instead of the usual upper-class landowners of the period who lived in mansions. Up in the attic are quilts, furnishings, and clothing from colonial days; downstairs are period furniture, laundry implements, a tiny "museum" behind glass, and other collectibles of interest. Dotting the property are outbuildings from the time, reminding visitors of how difficult rudimentary farm life could be in the 18th century. The annual strawberry and apple festivals are a lot of fun, with live music, demonstrations, food, and take-home goods to buy. There will be the usual apple pie contest at the upcoming 2018 apple festival, with house tours and Johnny Appleseed on hand to tell stories. Thanks to the Gandy volunteers for maintaining the farmstead and keeping the history going for current and future generations.”

“I went here the other night for the first time. I walked in at about 8:00pm to find there wasn't a soul in the joint. Not even someone attending the place. I walked around for a minute thinking, well maybe the guy is in the john or something. 5-10 minutes went by, and still no one. I went to walk out and found a note by the door. "If unattended, put money in drawer, pick a table and have fun" . Well I didn't drive over here for nothing. So I did just that. Played 9 ball for an hour, completely alone which was a little eerie given the size of the place. Despite feeling like I was in a scene from the Langoliers, I had a good time. Really nice tables, cool atmosphere and good music. Looking forward to seeing what it's like with other people there ????”

“Real History that influenced how the US grew and Flourished on a local level. It may not be what people think of when they hear the term "Mansion" but considering the time period, it was the largest home in the area. Well Worth the visit to see what our little corner of the world has to offer and has offered the world over the years”

“People are really nice here. I loved their first event this winter. Author Linda Barth presented her research with many old pictures about historic Delaware and Raritan Canal that passes from through NJ. I learned that canal merges with Raritan river in New Brunswick just after Landing Lanes bridge. And route 18 has been built where canal used to be.”
