“I received the book written by Patricia Masters regarding Mary Foster's Life, a native Hawaiian who advocated for the spread of Buddhism and restoring Buddhist historic sacred site of Maha Bodhi temple of India, Bodh Gaya with the Sri Lankan national hero advocate, Sri Angarika Dharmapala from the Buddhist Study Centre. Hoshina Seki is the lady president who is sincere and kind and I am so happy to have met her. With her compassionate words and encouragement I am so inspired to be a good person. I enjoyed reading the book about Mary Fosters and is nice to hear about the Hawaiian cultures and early history. Leaves of My Heart by Lady Kujo and I am going to get one of it when published and I am amazed by her wisdom and compassion including her contribution to her dedicated social work. I have read some extract of her essays and can't wait to read all of those essays. It is such a lovely way to learn Buddhism.”

“Dr. George is the best around! I've been dealing with a GI disorder/disease since I was a kid. Over the last few years I have been having an ongoing flare up and my quality of life was starting to become pretty miserable. Taken on the recommendation of my GI doctor here in Syracuse, Dr. Reedy, I went down to NYC for an appointment with Dr. George. Easily the nicest doctor's office I've ever been to, but that's what you get when you're on 5th Ave across from Central Park. Dr. George was the absolute best! He took the time to meet with me and my wife and really understand how my disease was impacting me. He ended up prescribing medication that was not as commonly used to treat my disease, but it worked! This is the best I've felt in years and I will be forever grateful to Dr. George for helping me get things back on track! Well worth the 5 hour drive to see him, would do it 1,000 times over. He genuinely cares about making sure his patients receive the care they need. A++++++++++++++++++”

“A review from a physician: I had the unfortunate situation of finding myself with a neck injury that required surgery in order for me to preserve my right arm functionality. I visited a couple of experts in the field and four Ivy League institutions. After my extensive research, here is what I learned: NY Hospital Cornell is ranked on the second best hospital in neurosurgery in USA. Their surgeons are among the top 50 neurosurgeons in the country. I incurred a cervical disc herniation at level C6-7 compressing the nerve root. The surgery was completed and I felt relief from the moment I opened my eyes in the recovery room. I was home the same day. I was fortunate to have my post-op therapy with Tracy at their rehab facilities. All issues were addressed. Today, every morning when I wake up I remember each member of this team that helped me get better. After all, your health is priceless. I can now continue working while enjoying my life. Same luck for my injury prone brother who couldn’t walk due to a herniated disc in his lumbar spine. The surgery was done and the very same day he went home walking. Last month my brother fell down the stairs and suffered a brain injury. I pretty much begged 911 EMS to take him to Cornell. My brother was seen by a battery of experts and was rushed to the Operating Room for emergency brain surgery. That surgery saved his life. It was a critical situation but I never for a minute doubted the outcome. This is the way that these dedicated people make you feel and for me it is just priceless. I thank the ER, neurology, trauma and neurosurgery team for their excellence. For my entire family I particularly want to thank Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Wheeler. The neurosurgical ICU (amazing top notch facility) team specially RN Irina who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. At this point I have no words to thank Dr. Roger Hartl, an amazingly dedicated surgeon that has made the major difference in my family three times now. He has “fixed” two of us and his sole concern was just for us to feel better. Isn’t that what we all want... One a side note, I’m aware that not only the NY Giants team but also the FDNY looks to Dr Hartl’s surgical skills in times of crisis. After the now infamous “Black Sunday” fire, one of the firefighters who jumped from the 4th floor of a Bronx building was rushed to Dr Hartl with only his spinal cord attaching his head to his body. Dr Hartl and his team performed the surgery. This firefighter is now walking. I humbly hope that my personal experiences and story help some of you that are in similar circumstances. Certainly I sleep better knowing that if something happens to me or my family I know the place to go!! Sandra Nieves-Rosado, MD”
